New Name for upcoming Amateur A Tour

Hey Grace thanks for the reply.
So basically I would have to show up and then from there the director would decide if I can play or not, right?

If you tell us who you are that would be a start, we need your real name as we do have copies of the various handicap lists. 5's are pretty much safe for the most part, we will have a list posted before the event.

Regards,
Grace

Guess I won't be able to play. But Anybody that can, I suggest you do so. Seems like a pretty good tournament.

Thanks for your support, there are those of us who are not eligible who will be there with a lot of free time...lol bring your cue down and lets have some fun! Who knows, maybe in the future we will expand to allow players like yourself, but for now we want the lower handicaps to have some fun.

Our future goals include some sort of Open event but for now we are concentrating on the "Recreational" amateurs....like I said, there will be a few of us looking for a game to pass the time while we are there, come on down, support the tour and have some fun...there are lots of raffles, a break contest, and maybe we can get a ring game going.

I think 95% of the players are going to be from Barrie and some from Newmarket.I know that Brian Bedford would fill his poolhall 3or4 times a week with pool leagues where most of the players are weaker. Most of those players will never return if they feel like they have no shot because there more recreational players. But there not junior players, most are probably over 40 years old and have no desire to want to get better, thats the problem, but if it draws a big turnout, thats what counts for them I guess!:)

This comment confuses me,which might be easy but I'll tell you why.In previous comments this tour was for the up and coming junior stars and a chance for the future of pool to get some spotlight. Now its just concentrating on Receational players? So the future of Canadian Pool lies in the hands of the recreational players? All I'm saying is that its cool your getting a tour going to keep pool alive to some degree but I think at the end of the day,you know and I know its a tour for weaker players because there's more of them but not about all the other stuff. But hay we all have the right to dream,I do it eveyday!:)Takecare

So what numbers are we looking at....how many entries are you taking? I'm from Sudbury and I know of at least one other player that wants to make the trip, but I would hate to drive 3 hours and book a hotel just to find out that the tournament is full.

The two of include (for handicap and eligibility purposes):

Jason Nicholls (VNEA only)
James Poirier (CPA & VNEA)

I keep checking the JACCS website, but just the flyer is available to this point

We did say the list will be up by mid September, sorry for the delay but there are a lot of lists to study....do one of you have Louie's email address I need to get together with him and Nicole regarding the Sudbury players...there is no limit as to how many can play, the more the merrier!

If that's the case There would be only like 4 or 5players that could play on that tour from the entire 404 tour.Hopefully this isn't the case!

How many players dont come out to play in the 404 because they arent as good as the other 4's or 5's?

CPA Halton probably has 700 players who would fit in this category alone.

thats what i was thinking. if this just ends up being mostly for cpa players thats fine, but u might as well call it a cpa tournament. there's maybe like 4 guys i can think of in the 404 that can play in this.

but i'm not sure if that's the cutoff tho. i just read grace's other post in which she says that she's ineligible to play because she's a 6.

what the hell? how is that relevant? if those people arent as good as the other 4's and 5's then why would they show up for this tournament? they'll be playing even and they're still not going to be as good as those other 4's or 5's that u're talking about. so if they're unwilling to play in the 404 because they dont want to play those 4's and 5's then they won't want to play in this one either since those same guys will be there.

Any ideas who we can get a CCS list from for the area? It would be very helpful as the 2nd stop is at JJ Felts (formerly Dooly's) in Waterloo, and the January stop is at Chicago Pub and Billiards in Kitchener on Ottawa St...the more help we get from the people involved, the better chance we have of getting eligibility right.

I have no idea what Louie's email is, but the VNEA league organizer in Sudbury is John from New Crown Music...He has the TRS rankings on his website at ncm8.com his other contact information is there as well if necessary

Some people that play at around say my skill level dont want to waste the money to go to a tournament they have no chance of winning. You and I play somewhat close to the same ability, if you had a 404 tournament and this tournament on the same day, one of which you had an opportunity to win some matches after losing way more then you win at 404.... which tournament would you be playing in? Those CPA players or TAP players who rank somewhere from 4-6 in the league have a way better chance of winning matches in this tournament series instead of the 404 where they could draw a professional/very skilled player that may not miss a shot in their whole match. Its not fun losing a match 9-0 or 10-0 without even having a chance to pot any balls because the player you're playing against is way out of your league, thats why hacks like us play each other when we gamble. So both players have a chance to win.

In my eyes, if eligible, I would prefer to play in a tournament where I can win some matches for a change. Ive donated just as much as anyone and for once Id like to have a chance to be on the winning side of a few matches. I think that is what this tournament series is about. People can talk about practice all they want, but some players have already peaked or dont have the time or resources to practice 20 hours a week.
