This is my favorite case that I have made. The intention was to capture the easy use of the McDermott soft case I had when first starting out but add some function and protection.
I added the metal spine to insure that it would hold shape even though we used some soft nappa leather. The leather accents inside were just something I thought would be a nice touch.
This particular one you are showing featured some of the best leather I have ever held in my hands.
One time we ran out of the leather we had been using and we had to go to another dealer to buy something in a similar color. This top grain nappa was what we got and in my opinion it's some of the richest, warmest, butter-soft leather I have ever touched. We didn't make that many cases with this leather because it was way higher in price than what we normally used and people thought that the price of the soft cases was too high any way as they were close to the price of the hard cases.
I don't know if they would be popular today. Not at the price I have to charge. But I think I should make a few just to see. At least one for myself.
I don't know if you noticed it but I also made it so that you can roll down the flaps when it's open and use it like a tube case.
And Art, don't forget to tell everyone what name was on yours before you defaced it![]()
