WTB thread protectors for a couple of cues...

Hello, first actual WTB post I've posted, but here goes... I have tried to get a hold of a couple of guys to make some caps for me, but not having much luck, so I'm putting it out there to the general public to see what is available.

what I am needing are some 3 pc. sets of JPs to fit a couple of naked cues that I would love to get caps on. I am not opposed to some sort of plastic, although I would prefer exotic woods...

I need a set in 3/8x10 for a cue with the "flat face valley" type of pin, I bought a set that claimed they would work, but cannot get them to swallow the pin... I think the shaft protector worked though, so maybe it is just the female that needs to be special... I would prefer these to be made of tulipwood, but would be open to see what is available.

I also need a set of three to fit a radial pin, (also 3/8 I believe) and would prefer these in plain well finished purple heart, but again, open to what is available.

thanks for any help you can provide, and please post what you have to this thread, if I am interested, I will PM for pricing info and such if you don't want to post it along with your pictures, or description.

thanks again...

Dave

Your 3/8-10 Female (Butt) Joint Protector can be reamed out with a "insert size" (?) drill bit. The threads just need to be opened up to accommodate the newer pin style. The shaft ones will fit.

thanks for the suggestion corey! I will have to try that, I am not sure why I didn't think of that, as that is the problem, they won't even start on the pin, and for fear of mucking up a stick I care way to much about, I stopped at that point, and didn't ook any farther... I'll have to give it a shot, as they are just 6 dollar cheapos anyhow...

oh, and for the record, I am talking to jim about making some, I just wanted to see if anybody had any laying around that might just be taking up space that they wanted to think about letting go of....

Jim makes an amazing set of JP's and I fully recommend him to anyone in the market. The set he made for my R Black are incredible.

Welcome- friend- Joint Protectors is what there called

telling us about the cues would help lots, in determining the thread sizes. There is another guy Alton Cue Caps. But lets get you a cue that is deserving og tulipwood caps etc. Try someone like Jacoby cues- There are litterly thousands of cheap plastic or aluminum or wood Joint Protectors. The fancy ones you buy can be reused on a good cue with matching threads. Troy (Koinnkid) All about the game room. sells them too. good luck mark

You can typically find some of the plain black Delrin ones in most any size on eBay...or even check with Prather/Schmelke/Atlas, as they supply to many makers. They are not very expensive, and will work for you until you can get custom ones made up.
