Questions About Glass City Open Answered

We are getting a great amount of calls and emails regarding the NEW Glass City Open 8-ball Team Championship.

For those who have yet to hear about this resurrected event, here are the details:

Most of the inquiries we are getting are regarding the Pro Player participation: Who can play? Who can't? How many "pros" can play on each team? What determines a pro? and, Is there a a league affiliation requirement?

First of all, there is NO league affiliation required. This is an Open event. Anyone can play, including pros. Each team will be evaluated on a per case basis. Our tournament does not have a rule that determines what makes a pro. Some tournaments do, but we are reserving the right to reject a team based on its total talent make-up. In other words, a "stacked team" of top ranked pro known players will not be allowed. They would have to break their team up. An extreme example would be a team that had Johnny Archer, Earl Strickland, Efren Reyes, Francisco Bustamante and Buddy Hall on it. This team would have to break it up or not play. In this extreme example, we would let two of the players stay on and they would have to add three more less skilled players.

It is our goal to make the event competitively balanced from top to bottom. Except for the above example, we will not engage in hypotheticals. If you have a team, get it registered, pay the deposit and we will then make the determination on it's viability. If the team doesn't fly and you do not want to make any changes, then we will refund your deposit.

We believe this will require each team to use it's best judgement in getting players for their team formation.

$12,000 guaranteed added to the main event and $3,000 guaranteed added to the ladies envent should bring out some of the best teams and players ever to play! So, get your best team together and let's get it on!

On another note: The press announcement of this event, which should be considered "major" at this point in the time in the pool world, went out to ALL "billiard media" on Sept 22, yet, with the exception of my posting to this fourum, there has been NO posting of the information anywhere on this particular media outlet. It's curious because there have been many other "news" postings of less significance since that time. Why, we wonder?

Best regards to all.....Tom Gearhart

Just talked with Rob Sykora, this is gonna be a great get together. Straight 8-Ball (8 on the break counts & so does does luck)

5 men teams playing a race to 8 (via one on one) & with 3 eliminations. If you aren't dead, you may become the Winner.

Vendors will be there & lots of people...

I certainly hope to go myself.

This team tournament should be a a whole lot of fun plus, with the added money, the most lucrative around! I hope to see you there. We just got a team from New Jersey signed up!

Which two Pros would you have on your team?

Here's a question for you AZers: If you formed a team and only 2 pros were allowed, who would invite to be on your team? What is your reasoning behind your picks and would you make them pay or would you and the other three pick up their entries?

I would invite Gabe Owens & Shane McMinn... both are great players. We have a half dozen more that might like to have $10,000.00
