which is the better tip? i don't mind maintenance just talking about playability

super pro vs emerald

I've used the emerald and it's a great tip. I like it alot. It holds up really well and feels great. I used it temporarily because my cue repair guy got a batch of everest tips that were really short. Sho i switched to the emerald and Snapped off ACUI nationals with it.
Plus it's a recycled tip which makes it good for the environment It's also pretty neat to see it shaped on a lathe and watching all the green shavings to come off.

they're recycled? you mean they're made from the scraps of what other tips were made of? that's kind of cool! going green,lol
I think it's recycled pig bits or something along those lines. But yeah it is pretty neat.
So it's like the hotdog version of cue tips?

I have used both and I personally like the super pro a lot better. The super pro is a hard tip and the emerald is a med-soft tip. The emerald mushroomed a lot on me, I had my repair guy fix it 3 times and when it mushroomed a 4th time I took off the emerald and installed a kamui black hard. The super pro does get glazed over after time though so I change them a little more regularly (every 2 months or so). The kamui black hard plays as hard as the super pro but hasn't glazed yet and its been 3 months. For the price of both tips you can try them both without forking out a lot of $.

I tried both and both are pretty hard tips even know the ones I used were supposed to be medium tips. I thought the emeralds played better the the super pro. I didn't have any problems with mushrooming or anything with either one. I dont break with my player but either never lost their shape and The super pro I had to rough up more often ...Thats just my opinion I always played with original moori's till my supply ran out Then I tried the Wizard and I think they play the closest to the old moori's so thats where Im at now .:thumbup: << ED
i liked the wizards but they felt a little funny to me. like most of the tip was glue or something.

I bought a box of Emeralds off Hellfish here on AZ . . . great tip for the money . . . mine have held up well. I've got some Snipers as well which are the Sh!t - what a tip. But, they cost 5x what the Emerald does. I've got my cues for the home table all in Emeralds and use the Sniper now on my playing cues that I carry around. I really like the Tiger products - the tips and cues are all top notch, and I've messed around with an X Shaft which seems to be a great shaft. Not very hard to adjust to as opposed to a Predator if you're going from an old school plain shaft.
My cue repair guy swears by SuperPro's on break cues . . . if you can't use phenolic tip in league's etc he puts one of those on. They're HARD but you still have some cue ball control - just pick it some and it holds chalk. Problem solved.
