So I have owned a flowers tribute case.... I am thinking about buying a GTF.
I currently have a Whitten. All are great cases but I'm selling my whitten....
Help me pick.... JB or GTF??????

JB designs and builds awesome cases.

Short of buying one custom built, I think these are my best options.

Unless JB wants to take pity on a poor college student?

Thanks everyone. ANY input is welcome.

what features of the GTF are swaying you from keeping your whitten? Im assuming you talking 2x4 configuriation right? weight? looks? protection factor?

Sell the Whitten? Why trade down?

The only cases I'd consider switching for would be a Murnak or Justis. Don't care for any gawdy leather Chinese scroll work.

Overall I love the looks of my whitten, my Flowers i just sold, and the gtf.
I don't have the prolite whitten so it's about the same weight as the flowers.
The GTF is lighter, atleast it seems to me. I have watched several videos about the loading instructions for the GTF and checked out my friends case. Overall, style are all about the same for me. I do love the protection of the JB and GTF cases. They protect the cues better than the Whitten, IMHO. There is something about the snug fit that keeps them in place that makes me a little more at ease. GTF does have a snug fit. I understand how people can say it is tight, but from what I have seen it is engineered almost perfectly. There is 0% cue parts touching and it is nice and compact. I like the classic felini look, which brings me back to GTF.
I have researched cases like a mad man recently and simply can't find any better cases than the GTF and JB's. I don't have the money to spend on a custom JB case or there would be no question with what I would go with.
I think the perks for me of the GTF is the classic smooth look, compact and just plain good-design. The Flowers has a strong look, and can still stand out in a crowd of cases without being an eyesore. They are both incredible cases and every time I decide for 100% certainty, I change my mind. I think I need to hurry up and graduate so I can buy 1 of each....lol

Just trying to see if there is any advice out there.... other than finish school... that's in the bag.

I will add Whitten makes an incredible case. So does Justis and all the other near-perfect cases makers out there. No case is perfect.... well maybe for $20,000 lol. Out of all the cases I have seen.... JB and GTF's are as close as perfect (for me) as it gets. I do love my Whitten. I just narrowed it down and came to these two as the best IMHO ( for my liking and personal preference).

Yes -- quit obsessing over pool cases and other pool equipment. Sounds like you have a nice case that holds and protects the number of cue parts you want to carry; so just use it for now. That's my advice (not that I observe it myself).

I would have to say.... deep breathe.... I agree. Great Advice. I appreciate the advice sir.

I love the Whitten's look and overall appeal. I just bounce back and forth on the idea of tubes vs ultra-pad. I know it's obsessive. I have a couple cues that might not be equal to a 5k Searing cue, but to me I wouldn't consider a trade in my lifetime. Something about tubing and them potentially clanking around. I know no damage will result from everyday things.... but overtime I just wonder.
Probably me just being paranoid and OCD.
Thanks for the responses.... Keep them coming.

I just received my JB J Flowers Tribute case, I think its made by sterling to be exact. Great worksmanship. I do have one problem with it. I have a rubber wrap on my Mezz Power Break and the interior is a little too tight, so it rolls the rubber wrap everytime I put it in and remove it.

you already are on a right track....GTF and JB flowers tribute is really nice looking cue and it's protect the cue very well. If you want a GTF, there is a one in selling/wanted section. it's sell for 295$ or near offer new, hurry to grab that case before i do LOL...

There is an easy fix to this. Make a sleeve, like a sock that you put the cue into before putting it in the case. The cue then slides in with zero problem and is equally easy to remove and you don't have to sacrifice protection.

I went through this with carom players 20 years ago.

In ONE MONTH Sterling Gaming will have tons of these sleeves available as well as a spacer system built on the same principle.

For some reason rubber and rubber-like grips are becoming somewhat popular so the sleeve is the answer if you want to use a snug-fit case like we build.

Thanks John, I'm enjoying the case a lot, its a beauty to look at. I will consider the sleeve or just get a linen wrap on it, haven't decided yet.

You will not find a sleeker case on the market than the GTF Replica. That case is about as efficient and seamless as a case can get.

The J.Flowers tribute is bigger and heavier and has much more room inside.

Both of them represent almost opposing ends of the case design spectrum. Jay of course, brought us the western saddle look. Fellini popularized the sexy little black dress look.

Both the J.Flowers Tribute and the GTF Cases have the padded snug fit that I brought to case making. So either way you do get much better protection than with the Whitten. As you know with me it's not about the beauty contest because honestly Whitten is a front runner all the time in any such contest involving which case is the prettiest.

So you can't really go wrong either way for the two choices you have narrowed your selection down to. For me personally I prefer the elegant sleek look of the GTF over the western tooled saddle look of the J.Flowers.

For the rest of you here is why protection matters, www.jbcases.com/protection.html

You don't HAVE to have the level of protection I offer but if something happens where the level of protection my cases offer would have saved your cue then you'll be glad you have it. One of my slogans when I owned Instroke was "Look Deep". And often when I pulled the guts out of a competitor's case and showed them to the customer, mostly Instroke knock-offs, the customer would be shocked and disgusted to see what they had been putting their cues into.

Someday I will simply put up some pictures of ALL my competitor's interiors and let you all vote on them without identifying the brands. I think that this will be a revealing exercise as most of you have ZERO clue what is below the first five inches of the inside of your case.

As I said to some of the cue makers at the recent ICCS, "if I handed you the material used in the some of those cases and asked you to polish your cue with it you'd ask me if I am crazy."

Said as I was handing out this to people as a demonstration of what's in our cases,

Thanks for all your comments everyone.
Once again, Mr. Barton, thank you as well. It's good to have someone filling us in on the little bits of knowledge that make a world of difference.
That's alot of the reason I have been debating back and forth about cases. The ultra-pad as you have said, and as I have experienced is such a great padding and protection over tubing cases.
Thanks again everyone.

Any comments welcome.

Good luck with your new case.
I'm also in the market for a new cue case and both of those definately come in at the top of my list.

I like the strap on the back of the G.T.F.,but I'm leaning towards the J Flowers or J Justis style case,
mainly because I can keep my cues screwed together and in the case with the lid still attached.

Maybe I can find one or have one made that way.(with the strap on the back

I really dig the cue protection on JB cases.
