CTE - Opinions From Actual Students

I am a student of spideys, He helped me by phone, internet and finally
met him in Vegas. I am 41 and I gained at least 2 balls. I have won or placed
in about 80% of the tournaments I have played in since perfecting
the method. These are not pro events, but the same ones I played Pre CTE. Took me about 8 months . I never thought I would reach this level.
Believe it or not. I could care less. And I am still getting better. Not bragging
just stating a fact. Thanks spidey,

PS I can explain it in words and have to a couple of players. But people like you make
me glad it is not public information and I make it clear to the people I help NOT TO GO PUBLIC
with it. So far so good

I'm a student of Hal Houle. I use and teach CTE. Thanks for asking....SPF=randyg

When it comes to CTE, Stan is prob the only guy who got to the bottom of CTE completely, 100%. I'd like to think that I contributed a little by collaborating with Stan the last 5 years; however, the last few key items are Stan's breakthroughs - not mine.

I went to Hal's house about 3 months ago just to check-in and make sure he's doing ok. When I described Stan's latest model, Hal replied by saying, "That's it - you got it." I didn't "get it," I was just repeating the info Stan gave me a few weeks earlier.

Hal used to tell me, "So, did you figure out those 3 and 4 railers yet?" and I used to say "yeah" because I never knew what he meant. The ironic thing is he told the world and we never figured it out.

CTE can't be simplified beyond what it is - it's the lowest common denominator. Given, you can change pivot lengths/offsets and/or pivot directions - but that's it. And just because one air-pivots, doesn't mean he/she isn't pivoting. In short, CTE can't be improved. Pro1 isn't an improved version of CTE - it IS CTE with a modified pivot.

The instructors listed above are all super and HIGHLY knowledgeable. I'm a student of most of them. Whether you call it Pro1, Grail, Same Aim, etc.... it's CTE.

After Stan's video is released, everyone will use that content and incorporate it into the CTE variants because it's "core" CTE - as Hal made it. I don't think that's a bad thing - it's a good thing. It means everyone will hopefully get the full picture regardless of what instructor they choose. It's like taking algebra class. If you take algebra from 3 different teachers, you should get the same core info from each instructor.

I think years from now everyone will be using this info and it'll be the way aiming is taught. Time will only tell.

Dave, you absolutely contributed and in a very huge way! I must say that one aspect of what you shared with me was a major key in "breaking-through".

As you indicated, CTE is what it is, nothing more or nothing less.

Thanks for you post!! I am thrilled that Hal confirmed with you that what I will present on video is Center-to-Edge.

I sent a PM to Hal Houle a few years ago. He invited me to his house. We spent hours on the phone. The funny thing is we only spoke about CTE for about 10-15min. Hal has some great stories to tell about life on the road. I, like many needed some help along the way. Hal told me to contact Dave Segal. Dave has helped me on the phone, internet, text messages and has sent me a few pdf files and I can't thank him enough. He showed me what I was doing right and what I was doing wrong.

I also have spent time with RonV on the phone and traded info over emails. Ron has the numbers for more kicking systems then anyone I know.

I wish the info that is out there now was out when I was trying to learn in the beginning. It wasn't an easy hill to climb but it was worth the time I put into it ten fold.

CTE is the real deal.

Waiting eagerly for Stan's video. All of the instructors mentioned in the opening of this thread, including Spidey, are people that I have the utmost respect for. Either through watching their videos or talking to or reading their imputs here on AZ. When I met Hal in So. Cal many years ago he wasn't teaching CTE. I talked to him once on the phone after he moved to PA but I just can't seem to learn over the phone. There have been so many threads with so much conflicting info I got hopelessly confused and finally said to myself, "No more."

I'm going to see Scott Lee this coming Sunday and catch up on things as we haven't seen each other in a couple of years. Scott has superior communication skills and I should come away wiser. Hopefully.

Funny, that the opening of the thread asked for people who had actually studied with someone who was qualified to teach the system and we still got the naysayers.

I got interested in CTE last year after talking to Spiderweb Dave. Up to that point I was a "feel" player, but needed some changes to get to the next level. Don't get me wrong, I played good.....ran some 100's, but had holes in my game.

After talking with Dave and Hal, and taking a year or so to convert my game, I can now honestly say I play at least 2 balls better using "a" system. That is a statement I thought I would never say.

That said, I use the edge of the CB and section the object ball with no bridge or cue adjustment after getting down on the ball. Like Dave said, I probably pivot behind the ball or on the way down, but I would still say I use a variant of CTE.

Hal Houle taught me a system I use to this day. I feel as though I am two balls better as a player because of it.

I have had no direct instruction on CTE. Dave has helped me with it as have others and I feel as though I have a good grasp of how to use it and am having great success with CTE.

I personally don't find it to be "better" than what Hal showed me but I am happy with the results.

I am only a student of the material both SpiderWebComm, and JB Cases made available. CTE has helped me make shots that I normally would have missed with out the information from SpiderWebComm, and JB Cases .

Same here John.
I don't use CTE because I never had the time to put into it while I was with Hal. He showed me about 4 different systems and I use two of them that have REALLY elevated my pocketing ability.

I plan on meeting Dave soon to go over CTE and I will also be buying Stan's DVD once it's released.
