Ok here goes. Over the last many months i have seen thread after thread about this cte aiming system. I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT IT. That being said i have read many a thread were people praise it and others that bash it. No one has told us how the system works. And they want your money to buy a dvd or take a lesson. Is it just me or should these threads be in the FORSALE category... And for the threads on people who just took a lesson and think its the greatest thing ever. Great post it in the REVIEW category.
On a side note. Again i dont know anything about it. If it's so great why dont you have pros flocking to these instructors? I mean if cte helps you make more balls. That might be enough to make a shortstop the next US Open winner.
Now i love knowledge and would probably give my money away to take one of these lessons in the hopes i could learn anything that would help my game. Because i know, if i know what to do on any given shot all there is left is execution. But this is what makes the greats great they know what to do or create something and can execute it (with a high %).
In finishing please take your sales to the for sale section and reviews to the review section please. And if you are in the northwest giving a lesson dont hesatate to pm me before you come. Thank you for your time.
If you have read these threads then you know the following things to be 100% fact.
1. CTE is a real method that some highly regarded and qualified instructors teach as a part of their overall curriculm.
2. Many people have PAID for lessons which include CTE and have posted favorable reviews of the system as pertains to their game.
3. Those that bash it have not learned it from qualified instructors or anyone else.
4. How it works is not as important as knowing that it works. The number of people testifying that CTE has helped them to be better players far outweighs the few people who are stuck on getting the math behind it before trying it.
Those four things are indisputable. Go through the threads and count the number of people who are pool teachers of note who teach CTE and count the number of people who took instruction and reported favorably. Compare those to the number of people who "bash" CTE without even trying to learn it.
CTE exists and will continue to do so whether you want to learn it or not. Bob Byrne will probably give you advice for free if you run into him at the pool room. But he does not come on here and publish the information that he put into a book and sells.
Lastly, the bashers have told you how CTE works. Those are the scientists and although they have NEVER learned any version of CTE from a qualified instructor they have told you and all of us how it works.
Dr. Dave Alciatore, PHD has compiled a list of "resources" which contain many opinons on how CTE works. It's all subconscious adjustment and feel predicated by an initial ballpark starting alignment.
So there you go,
That's all you need to know, start with a half-ball hit and pivot until you find the aiming line running through the center of the cueball. That's it. According to Pat Johnson and backed up by Dave Alciatore, PHD. Although neither of these two have ever learned CTE they have described how it works.
Now if you would like the finer points of the system beyond that I would highly suggest that you get with a qualified instructor. Neither of these two can instruct you in how to apply CTE although they take the liberty to tell you how it works.
An example of such a qualified instructor who has taught CTE to professionals and amateurs alike is Stan Shuffet who is in fact about to release a video on the subject.
You be asked for money if you elect to take instruction from the instructors who have made teaching pool their career. If you want the finer points for free then there are a good amount of very good people on this forum willing to help you in private for free. Well not entirely for free. The price of getting their help is don't be a jerk about it on the open forum.
Otherwise, don't learn it. The world won't end. If you're happy with your game then simply ignore the conversations.

Interlude:
A little story about knocking something you don't know about but think you do:
Buddy Hall and Country Calvin Hargove were on the road with Calvin doing most of the backing. They roll up in one spot where a reputed local champion played that neither of them had ever seen play. The local guy wanted Buddy to give up the 7/8 and Buddy wanted to but Calvin said it was too much weight for Buddy to give a local champion. Calvin opted not to be part of the action. Buddy gave up the weight and beat the local guy silly. Later he taunted his road buddy Calvin with the winnings.
Buddy's reasoning was simple, "I know my game and if this guy was good enough to beat me then I'd already know it".
The moral of the story is that if you listen to naysayers and knockers then you often pass up opportunities. Naysayers have a place but at the end of the day you go with your own heart as to whether you will try something or not.
