Long pointed full spice

Anyone ever seen or made a long point full splice. I always see short points but never long points? I know nothing about cue building but was curios if they exist? Also, is there some technical reason for short points on full splice sneaky pete cues?

To make a long pointed full splice blank, you need a rather long piece of the bottom wood. Most splices are made with an 18" bottom exotic, and a 12" maple forearm. When you turn the splice down, the points "contract" a little, causing them to become shorter.

To do a full splice with long points would take a 28" piece of exotic in the butt. Only certain woods could have this long a splice and still be weighted properly. If it was ebony or cocobolo, you'd have a cue that weighs 22oz minimum. Purpleheart, rosewood, or bocote would work well as a long splice.

Thanks for the info! I think the weight issue could be over come to allow you to use Ebony and Cocobolo wood on a long pointed full splice cue. I would either core the blank and/or add a butterfly splice to the bottom like Diveney sneaky petes or those old ebony dufferin hi-run cues!

I would love to see one or have one made! If anyone has pictures or a review of this type of cue I would love to see the pictures or read the review some where?
