Power Feed For Cue Lathe

I was wondering if any one knows what the RPM rating is on the power feed gear box used on the Hightower lathe, there are 8 ranges from .45 to 25 rpm. I am using the Radio Shack 300mA 1.5-12 volt power source. The label is worn off of mine and I can not read it. Any info would be appreciated.

The F/L is 25 RPMs. The armature is listed at 12 VDC, so this would be the maximum RPMs and voltage for this motor.

Thank you aphelps. I checked out mine a little better this morning and found that the problem was a broken wire inside the power cord. Works like new agian. I am thinking that I will buy another one to have a spare.

I use this instead of the little power pack that the machine comes with. Instead of having only a handful of speeds to choose from, you can use the knob for variable speed adjust. It seems to run a little faster and infinitely slower than the power pack. It's cheap and is equipped with overload & thermal protection, which is a plus for protecting the motor.

They ain't cheap

I bought one of these from graingers last year and with a buisness discount it was $59 so someone might can tell us of another source. The railpower controller Eric listed is great for true variable speed.-Leonard

Thank you qbilder,

I just ordered one, looks alot better than the slide switch.

Another option for power is a tattoo power supply. I gone mine on ebay, has digital voltage display looks just like this. Mine is 0-15 volts DC. I think it cost me $30

That looks way better than th radio shack one. I thought of something similar a while back, but have not made the time to mess with it.

I see now it was a dumb question but thanks for the answer. I'm editing the post so no-one misreads and thinks its okay.

Thanks,
Scott
