Vintage Mike Sigel DVD's

Want to see Mike Sigel at his best, when he ruled the pool world? In 1987 Mike won seven major tournaments! Fortunately it was the beginning of the video era in professional pool and some of these historic matches have been preserved. You get a chance to see why Sigel was the best player of his time, and also a glimpse at what the pool scene looked like over twenty years ago.

I had a hand in producing videos from the 1987 Classic Cup in Chicago, the 1987 Peter Vitalie Invitational in Los Angeles and the 1987 Sands Regent Open in Reno. In the Classic Cup final you will see Mike battle a young and very game Mark Jarvis who had played great pool all week to reach the finals. And you will hear me doing commentary for the first time. Next up is the Peter Vitalie and a very professional production, originally shot on 35mm film. A documentary was in the works but the production team ran out of money before they could get all the necessary editing done. We are left with classic footage of one of the best pool events of the 80's, held at the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. You'll see Efren and Buddy Hall playing against Mike here in the semis and finals. Ronnie Allen does one of his only stints as a commentator ever.

Last up is the Sands and Mike plays Allen Hopkins first and then David Howard in the finals. Watch the perfection that Mike brought to the game, perfect position and shot making rack after rack. He finally miscues in the last rack but finds a way to win anyway. David sits in the booth with Pat Fleming and I for a bit and does some great commentary on racking the balls and what constitutes a good break shot. Pretty good stuff even for today. When David plays in the final, you will see the most powerful break in pool in the 80's. This was when all balls still spotted up and you shot from behind the line after a scratch on the break. A little different game back then. These final two matches with Pat and I doing commentary together are the ones that inspired Pat to go at it full time with Accu-Stats. Pat was a terrific commentator by the way.

The normal price on these four matches is $25 each, but you can buy all four for the price of three - $75, and I'll throw in the shipping. Do not order off my website, but through me directly. Send payment via paypal to jayhelfert@yahoo.com. I have a limited number of these DVD's and when they're gone it may be some time before I make any more.
