That implies to me that it's single elim and the two girls have already been beaten out, and they're having a play off for some sort of 3rd place trophy.

Or is this just the one-loss side and the winner goes on to the loser side finals?

Thanks. That always throws me off when someone says "playing for 3rd" and it's the loser who gets 3rd. Usually you play to win, not lose. :p
