How to have a better results??

I have joint local mini bar pool tournments about once (most of the time) or twice a week for almost a year. I just feel that the results can't really reflect my current level which I have often lost the games to some opponents who I feel aren't as high level as I am.

The fromat of the games(8-ball) could be one of the reasons since we have played only 1 game or race to 2 on A or/and B side (double-elimination).

But my point is, I have practiced every day since the end of last year and I can feel that I have improved alot. Why do I not able to win more often if I face those same people? Is this normal? Or, is it the process that I need more patient, more contest experience and much more improvement to have better results?

Can you share your views? Thanks!

What have you specifically practiced to make yourself a better player?

Just shooting/playing more games might not be enough.

If these people that you think are lesser skilled than you consistently beat you there's some good evidence that they might not be as low skilled as you think. I don't believe that all these "lesser skilled" players are getting all the rolls against you for a full year. Rolls come and go.

So with that bit of painful reality check in place.

Do you do any practice that enables you to measure quantitatively your improvement on specific skills?

I did win them, not losing to them all the time.
But for those mini bar tourneys, top 3 have the prizes. But for example, I can't get prizes (in top 3) close to 50 % when I play those tourneys. I can get money once in about appox. 5 to 6 times. I should have also mentioned that there are some guys who have similiar levels as I do.

I play contest not only for money, but money can encourage me to practice hard. I don't really mind if I have good result or not, but I do care that whether I am on the right way to go!

I see, thank you for your reply.

Again, I would suggest you adopt a practice regmine that allows you to measure your progress on certain defined skills such as, speed control, stroke straightness, stop shots, eye patterns, pre shot routines etc.
