Anyone have any tips on the best way to get my stroke back? I stopped playing for lil over two years now I'm tryin to pick it back up. Some days I can't miss the next can't make a straght in shot. How do I get the drive back for the game?

The fastest way I can tell you to find out what is wrong with your stroke is to see an instructor. Other than that just keep practicing and it will come back.

Well I stopped playing in February 2003 till February 2010, 7 years off, didn't hit a ball, in September 2010 I ran 6 racks of 8-ball straight, so I guess it depends on how good you played before the lay off.

It took me about a month before I felt comfortable and confidant about playing again.

Watching all the live streams on today of the "Tar Challenge" matches and the "Bigtruck Streams", ect. got me wanting to play again, and watching all the tapes of Buddy Hall & Efren Reyes playing perfect pool keeps your stroke at it best.

Questions

First you indicate you want your stroke back, and then you say drive for the game? One, another, or both?

Always - You go back to the fundamentals, stance, form, stroke mechanics, wax on, wax off grasshopper. These are the basic building blocks that lay the foundation for you as a player.

hoo rah, I found my 3rd disciple, paint up, paint down.

wax on, wax off..

Another one knows. They are here, they hide in fear of being detected, i will gather them, free them, add them to my new gang. I now have 3. Soon I will have 300.

I will call my new gang, the poncholettes. We be muy malo hombres.

The last vacation I took from the game was just over five years. It took me a while before I felt comfortable playing again. It's not going to happen over night. You're going to have good days and bad days. I don't think there's any getting around it.

I did commit totally to the game once I came back playing. I also had a very solid foundation from years of playing and I stayed with it and believed in myself.

I've done very well since my return. I topped it off last year winning the BCAPL Senior Eight-ball Championship in Las Vegas.

Stay with it. You'll get the consistency you had before, OVER TIME.

You are just a little rusty, I didn't play much for 25 years and it took me 8 or 10 months to get my game back. You need to shake the rust off. I wouldn't worry about it to much, this is a mental game so when that part comes back you should be fine.

this is the difference between great players and bangers, the ability to commit to your game. not just time, but in belief.

lol! probably the reason why many pro's don't have day jobs;).
