UPDATE ON SUBJECT OF BUSTY"S CUE. ( INFO TAKEN FROM TAR interview # 22 INTERVIEW )

Brand of main cue : Bear Cue ( 1994-current )
Length of cue : standard 58 inch
Weight of cue : 21oz ( moved up from 19.5 2years ago )
Shaft type : Standard maple shaft
Shaft tip diameter : 12.75
Tip diameter shape : Not stated
Shaft taper : Not stated if altered or not
Cue balance : Not stated
Butt cap of his playing cue has tape wrapped around it because he broke it slamming it against the ground or table, lol ....u figure he can just ask Bear cues to send him a new one right?..Prolly used to it that he doesnt want to break in a new one, who knows.
Break cue was only stated as having it weight 20 oz. No other info was mentioned on it

I have the Boar that he used.
It is no different from any of the other boars that Tony makes
the weight is around 19.4
I showed the cue to Busty and the only thing he wanted to change was to sand the tip down, it was a new tip and he said it was too thick for his liking
To this day Busty keeps asking Tony for a cue, because he loves how they feel.

Can you snap some photos? What kind of tip brand does he play with? Can you measure the shaft tip diameter? Is it a regular shaft or ld? Stiff shaft or some flex? Last but not least...IS Tony going to make him or currently making him a cue?

all of Tony's tips start as 14 mm Triangle, then they are tested and graded to find the tips that the leather will compress the fastest and most.

the shaft is a normal Boar shaft, they are chosen for straightness, high growth rings, how they were dried and for their resonant pitch. There is alot more info on his cue making on the website. The cue has a ivory ferrule and a steel joint.

As far as making him a cue, no, Tony can not afford to make free cues for anybody because each cue takes at least a month of production time.

That mullet is bad to the bone. The cue ain't bad either. I've always wanted to know some of the details of what's in Busty's bag. Maybe we can contact Samm and see if she'll do an interview.

Wow...I wish Tony would reconsider. Busty would represent BB to the fullest. Maybe in the future?

Joey thanks for the pic..wish we could see more of the cue and the details in it. Does anyone know if busty plays linen wrap, leather, both or wrapless or any and all?? Can anyone confirm if he shoots with a predator 314 or 314-2 ?
 
He plays with a Bear with a linen wrap and a straight off the shelf shaft. Doesnt like laminated.
 
If he plays with a Bear cue why does it say on Pat Diveney's website that he uses his cue's.
 
Well since we are talking about Django I have a question since I'm a big fan of him .

Now we've got down so fare that he plays we a normal off the shelf cue around 19.5 weight with irish linen wrap .

Now for the shaft what size tip does he play with now that's what I'd like to know ????. I've seen and own many video's and in some match's he plays it looks to me that sometimes he's playin with a 13mm Tip and then other times it looks like 12.75 or lower so that's my question any answers would be nice . Thanks . :)

He probably uses both. He as been with Bear for as long as the early 90's and he's changed cues like 2 or 3 times as far as I can remember.

The latest cue I have seen him using is a maple cue with a grey linen wrap. That shaft could be straight off the shelf, but I couldn't say for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't.

Still hoping people will add pics of his cue/s to this thread. Hopefully Sam does a " What's In The Case " segment in the future...

That would be cool if Samm would do that , I'm just interested on what Size tip he use's that's my main question . :smile:
 
Here's some pics of his old and new cues... I have more I'll post later..

This is obviously a Busty signature series cue from Bear. I have seen games where he played with this cue. I have to find them still and link it... ( I would LOVE to have this cue..it was limited to a very small amount made..if anyone has one or knows where I can get one let me know asap! )

This is the current cue we've all seen him use..It is in fact a bear model cue.

And last of course is his old Black Boar....I dunno what the butt of this cue looks like but I am on the hunt.

Well as far as his tip diameter I have talked to some pros who have inquired about this and what was told to me was that he plays with a standard size shaft at 13mm...What tip he prefers is still up in air. I've been told also that he doesnt use layered tips... I have yet to confirm on this.....
