Mr. Herbeck, as I'm sure you are aware it is a diffcult and ongoing process to "rate" every player. We have done a pretty good job to date with more & more players coming "out of wood work" on a regular basis. We have made adjustments and will continue to do so to insure the integrity of our "no masters" fields.
Gregg is surely one of those players who is borderline in our minds. He has played in many tournaments and has never dominated and will still be allowed play in our "no master" tourneys unless he is rated a master by the BCAPL or VNEA or meets our tournament win criteria in Beloit. The tourney you mention that he won was many years ago. Everyone deserves to do well once in a while...
The decision to allow Dennis to play was put to a vote. He passed but was given a "short leash". Any top 3 finish was an automatic move to "open". He did well and has been moved accordingly. The tourney you mention where Dennis was 2nd was a 7 or 8 player field. Troy Miley won and he is also playing in our "no master" events currently
With all of the new players coming to Beloit we have talked of expanding our rating committee. We will most likely look for active players or promoters who are outside of the Beloit area to help keep our ratings as good as possible.
