3 rd cue from the left on the bottom is now mine, I intend to play with it as a cue when I'm travelling internationally. I had Steve match the taper of my shafts on my main player-as close as he could, they feel great.. My daily player is too fancy to travel with over seas, personally I dont like to play with flashy cues-it just ended up that my player was a flashy looking cue-but it works and I play better with it, so I have used it for the past 2 years. Never before have I played daily with anything flashy. I told Steve that the plan is to make it play as close as possible to my daily player.
I plan to travel over seas often this up comming year. My daily cue is too much cue to travel with-so I really need a travel cue. I was travelling with a Sugartree cue but it is differnt than my cue, which a couple years ago it didnt matter, but now that i'm more dialed in the more sensitive I am with what cue I use. I must add Sugartree cues are equal to Lomax cue's, best playing cues for the $$$-that are readily avaliable. So if this new cue plays 80% to 90% like my daily player I'm set. I wish I could play good with any cue, but I cant-i'm very sensitive to equipment-I know thats weak but its true. BTW my break cue is a Sugartree and that aint changing. I can play ok with it but not as good as I want to. Its me not the Sugatree. Eric builds great cues, as I hope everyone here knows.
I took a cue to Germany in Dec that I hated, I thought I liked, it but I played horrible with it. I played with John Broombacks cue that Steve made, when he was in Vegas on business a while back and it felt a lot like my cue, So I know Steve can tweek it so we can get it dialed in if its not right. Thats whats cool about Steve he will take a finished cue and make adjustments to it, so you end up with what you want-with in reason.
I havent hit a ball with it yet, I just picked it up today. I'm out of stroke real bad now so I wont be able to tell what if anything needs to be changed. I really hope it works. It have beatiful ring work, I will get better pics of the rings, they are stacked veneer rings to match the points.
It will be interesting to see how it plays, one thing is for sure is Lomax cues play great, if you dont have $2,000 to $5,000 or want to wait 10 years for a cue; give Steve a call he is real easy to work worth and builds real real good playing cues. They play like the "Big name" cue's IMO.
Larry Nevel has a beatiful cue Steve made, Broomback has 2 of Steves cues. He builds cues for players, they are all high performance cues, they look great but playability is #1 with Steves cues.
i'm sick today, kinda a flu/cold combo and I have a backache-sucks. I'm at the Derby, if I feel ok tonight I'm going to play with it and report back. Steves pics are about like mine, they dont really show off the cue at all. It has beatiful color veneers and rings. I will post pics of it someday. I'm very confident this cue will work out just fine.
