Im sure its just me but he might as well been speaking in martian. I would gladly return that Dvd for my money...And how can anybody say publicly they dont beleave the pros aim any certain way, and that when their info gets out the pros are going to " hone their skills even more and become more consistent" I dont think even I could say somthing so arrogant.

I am sorry do you have the DVD? If so then I will gladly buy it from you for the full amount you paid if Stan won't offer you a refund.

What exactly are you criticizing here?

Thats a nice offer you made and if it wasnt for the fact I have a few great players I want to take a look at it and tell me what they see I would gladly take you up on it.

As for your question I stated pretty clearly what I felt was just plain rude. Ive talked pool with more than few really great players and aiming is always at the top of the list. He can state he "don't beleave" what ever he wants but when I ask a guy, let say of Nick Varner's character "if this shot was for 10,000 how would you aim it" and he tells me I beleave him and to set the record straight it was at a "point". And I dont beleave there is one great player Ive ever talked to that he has any right to say "once this info gets out their going to hone their skills even more and become more consistent" that is like I stated just plain arrogant.

As for the rest of the DVD the production was ok, but ill be passing on the whole CTE-PRO-One thing alittle to goofy for me. From Mosconi to Schmidt hundreds have been run simply shooting it down a line.

Just so everybody is clear on one thing from my camp. I do beleave if it works for you then by all means use it.

Oh there is one ? I would ask I guess.. Why in the world would you have to pivot our cue on a STRAIGHT in shot....

isnt every shot "straight" in?

check me if i'm wrong here but doesnt every ball go "straight" in? i dont think i have ever seen an object ball curve into a pocket unless you want to count table roll. and as far as "points" go, there is only one "point" or spot on an object ball that when hit will make it go "straight" into the intended pocket no matter what the shot is.

I think you might want to rethink that last statement... All shots have a given margin of error on the object ball... that means there's a range of points, depending on the shot, on the object ball that allow you to make a ball...

I was very intent on watching AND listening to everything put forth on the dvd...twice before going to the table...I was, I guess lucky I got it. I couldn't miss a ball it gave JUST what he said it would..Visuals..Some will see and some won't , as with ALL things.. As far as your statement about the pros aiming a " ANY "certain way. If you back track on the dvd, you will hear Stevie Moore say " I have always aimed using the edge of the ball".
I sat through endless thread responses on CTE more negative than any. I would never comment for lack of knowledge. Now I can say without a doubt ...IT WORKS !!!!
Sorry it doesn't work for you and in all retrospect I am a little happy , Because playing someone with this knowledge in a match would bring the game down to the " who's breaking better ".

So because you are now going to pocket 99.9% of your shots, will you now be winning pro tournaments? Even if you get bad shape, you still won't miss.

I think that only tells half the story. Isn't spin on the cueball just as important as where you strike the object ball?

So you're criticizing a statement about how pros aim or something? Or are you criticizing a prediction that the information could be valuable to professional players?

You know that once in while someone manages to invent or discover a technique that does in fact raise the overall skill level of the participants in a sport. Often it's a coach who discovers some way to teach or a way to move that is different than all who came before.

You can find this trend in every sport ever played. All of them.

There is no sport on Earth that is active with professional level world class competitions where the average skill of the participants is WORSE than it was 10 years ago, 50 years ago, 100 years ago, etc....

I just got back from a lesson given by a coach who has trained world champions. He has me doing things with my stroke that are 100% AGAINST what the "experts" on AZ preach. Guess what? I am running out tables cleaner than I ever have at any time in my life.

It's not easy though because it's killing me to reverse a lifetime of stroking the "book way" and killing me physically to retrain my muscles to do it his way.

Not once in the past five hours of coaching has he asked me how I am aiming. I have used CTE the whole time, pivot and all. All he is concerned with is how I am stroking and that I am using the RIGHT stroke for where I want to hit the ball.

If this guy ever made a video and claimed that professional players could benefit from what he teaches I would believe him and not begrudge his statement.

Willie Mosconi said that the difference between a professional and an amateur is that the pro knows that there is no such thing as an easy shot. I would expand on that and say that a professional also knows that they can always learn something and get better.

Anyway if all you have to criticize is the statements and all you can do is bring up the question of why would someone pivot with a straight in shot and you have the information right there then I count that as a plus. At least none of you can say that you don't have the instructions.

No one says you have to use anything that any instructor teaches you. You can pass on it for whatever reason you like. However the fact of it is that NOW it's not vaporware any longer. Now all the critics have to actually get into the material if they want to continue to criticize. In my opinion that is.

He said he couldn't miss a ball, and that was just his first time after watching.

I'll see him at the finals of the US Open next year.

My only gripe.

Without good mechanics and fundamentals you'll never play well. No matter what system you use. Its funny everybody wants an aiming system to "shorten the learning curve" but these same people refuse to put the time in at the table to develop any type of fundamentals. It's just like diet pills being so popular because everyone wants to lose weight but nobody wants to go the gym...That's it im done..

Would that make a difference to you? If any given person wins the US Open and says that they do x would you run out and try to do x?

You all are such haters that it's truly sad. Why can't you just be happy for anyone who is enjoying playing the game of pool?

You all whined and moaned for years that no one would step up and provide you with detailed instructions, called the teachers of these systems snake oil salesmen and frauds etc.....

Now there is a video out with the exact instructions to one version of the CTE method and still you all whine and moan.

IF any amateur did start posting some great wins and publicly attributed it to learning ProOne or any similar aiming system then you all would find some reason to knock him.

All you all want to do is knock anyone who who tries to help others get better whom you personally don't agree with and now you knock the people who claim to have gotten better through that teaching.

It's hilarious and sad. If I had enough money I'd get Efren Reyes to say he uses CTE and has done so all his life JUST to see how much backpedaling would go on by the haters if Efren made such a statement.

You all think that you know everything there is to know about how to play pool? Why aren't any of YOU winning the US Open? What have you won with all your knowledge?

The fact is that there is a LOT that MOST people don't know about how to play really good pool. Professionals do a LOT of things that amateurs don't know about. Whether they do it consciously and keep their techniques to themselves on purpose or whether they do these things unconsciously as a result of being in the grease against top players doesn't matter. The point is that THEY do things differently than you or me.

If you knew what they know and could do what they do then you would BE one of them.

But you don't and I don't.

So you can choose to be a continuing student of the game and enjoy anything that helps you to play at a higher level or you can be a hater and knock anyone that enjoys getting better.

Up to you. For me I am enjoying getting better and making the shots that win games and get applause.

Compared to many here, I know little about pool.

The claims have been that CTE causes you to make every shot. So you'll undoubtedly start winning major tournaments, unless another CTE beats you.

I have not seen the DVD but I do use an aiming method that I was shown and it really brought my game up quite bit. It was the most dramatic improvement I have seen. The only thing I can say is if guessing works for you then great but if its not then get an aiming method. I know over time some good players whom guessed finally made so many balls that they instinctively know where to hit it but for those who do not there are aiming methods out there that work, maybe this will work for you or it wont, everyone is different.

You're taking that statement ("making all my shots"... "can't miss"...) literally, and too seriously.

The guy is obviously excited. He's doing much better than he was before, and his confidence in shooting is sky high. So yes, I think it's safe to say he probably exaggerated a little by saying that he can't miss now. When any of us are "in stroke" we have the feeling that we aren't gonna miss. (Not that I'm "in stroke" much :p )

I also think it's safe to say that he's improved his game after learning this system. Whether or not it's the system, or his confidence, or paying more attention to his stroke, or the planets being in perfect alignment.

Stop tearing down. What good does such negativity accomplish? Does it make you feel superior? Sheesh.

How can you say that? While I am sure that SOME people are looking for a magic pill I am equally sure that others have put plenty of time in at the table.

I am one of them. I have put plenty of table time in while trying out things I read and watched.

And you know what? Despite that I have learned things from pros like Rafael Martinez, Jimmy Reid, Buddy Hall, Jose Parica and Danny Medina to name a few which I have NEVER EVER seen in a book or video. Why is that?

The things I learned from the pros are things that definitely shortened my learning curve. In fact I'd be pretty confident in saying that some of those things are things I probably NEVER would have learned if I hadn't been shown them.

Did it ever occur to any of you that some of the people who want to try out a new technique might be wanting to do so because they have put in the time, have the straight stroke, have hit a million balls, do the drills, buy every book and tape known to man, and still they miss more balls than they like?

And some people might like to try it out just because they are curious.

Why does ANYONE have a PROBLEM with anyone else's desire and journey to get better?

Who are you people to tell ANYONE what they SHOULD do to get better? None of you are champions, none of you have the right stuff or the formula or you would already be out there winning.

If you're not a professional instructor or a professional player then you have zero right to criticize anyone else for their choices about which paths they want to explore in their quest to become a good player.

Ultimately this is all about people wanting to get better and other people stepping up to help them. Please tell me what is wrong with that?

So what if someone wants to get an "aiming system" and doesn't want to work on their fundamentals???? Why do any of you care? That person will ultimately HAVE TO work on their fundamentals when they inevitably hit the brick wall where an "aiming system" won't get them past.

That doesn't make the aiming system itself any less valuable a tool. So please stop mixing up the aspects of the game. You can have the straightest perfect stroke in the world and if you can't aim then you will be inconsistent. And you can have perfect aim and not be able to execute and you will be inconsistent. BUT you will be making some fantastic shots along the way.

The point is that to be a complete player you have to study all aspects of the game and master them. NO ONE is saying that an aiming system eliminates the need to have good fundamentals. No one has ever said that and no professional instructor would ever say that.

I have not seen one single person who claims that they suck at pool and feel that having an "aiming system" will make them a champion. I can tell you though that having an aiming system can make you FEEL like a champion when you come with the tough shot in the clutch and you KNOW that you lined up right because of the aiming system.

I think it's really unfair to make a statement that all the players who would like to try out CTE and similar systems are only looking for a shortcut to greatness. What they are looking for is something that they can rely on so that they can move on to working on the rest of their game.

At least that's how I see it for myself and I am sure I am not alone.

Compared to many here, I know little about pool.

The claims have been that CTE causes you to make every shot. So you'll undoubtedly start winning major tournaments, unless another CTE beats you.

You just proved your first statement correct. There is a lot more to playing top pool than just making the balls. Maybe, in time, if you open your mind, you will learn that. There is also a lot more to just making a ball than having a perfect aiming system. Maybe you will in time learn that too.

Basically, with CTE, if a ball is makeable to a hole, you can make it with the system. Providing that you have a straight stroke. No more need to play safe because you aren't familiar with a certain shot, or are scared of a certain shot. I have the same confidence with the "tough" shots that I do with the "easy" shots. That alone makes a huge difference.

At the top level of pool, you will seldom see a player miss a ball. However, 99% of us are not top players, and we do miss. Now we have a very good way to miss a whole lot less. Apparently, by knocking CTE, you must enjoy missing balls. I've seen people like that, they play on coin operated tables so they get their moneys worth.
