Tom Ross medical condition

Say it ain't so

I too have read many articles for so long. I hope and pray for a speedy recovery. I think he loved life and will make every effort to return full,it takes some time ,and much rest before exercise to get better. The New years seems to start out like crap,with az members and health issues. I'll pray for the whole family. My the lord bless you Tom Ross and all your loved ones. Mark

Yeah, I'm staying subscribed to this thread, hoping to hear good news of improvement but rehab from strokes is sometimes slow.

Rehab is kind of like improvements in your pool game. You feel intermittent joy, satisfaction, frustration, complete frustration and then repeat the cycle all over again.

Tom Ross is a winner and it is evident in his demeanor. He knows that hard work will be the order of the day and his discipline in the game of pool will pay big dividends for his recovery.
 
I am trying to get the latest update from his close friend in Denver. I should have an answer by end of day or tomorrow the latest if he's in town.

It's funny, it's harder to stay in contact w/Tom since he was released from the hospital. I will post something when I hear it.

I saw him just before Christmas. He is happy to be home. He is walking around with practically no noticeable limp. He still doesn't have complete feel or strength in his right arm, but this has gotten better. His speaking is still a problem, but he hadn't done much speech therapy yet, so hopefully that will improve with time.

I look forward to a more recent update with even more positive news.

Ok, here's what was reported this evening (I asked if he is able to talk on the phone yet): He's still improving and I'll be sure to let you know when I know for sure that he can talk on the phone.

Not much detail but very encouraging. it is great news that he continues to improve, sometimes that's hard to notice.

Tom is the man.

He was just at the ACS Midwest Championships in Riverside, IA doing an exhibition. He seemed doing fine. I didn't notice any signs of a stroke and the only thing I did notice was that he seemed more reserved and not so amped up after a great shot during an exhibition. Probably watching his emotions and actions as to not stir up anything.
Nick Varner was there as well looking great for 62. I think his 'perm' curls was a bit tighter tho!!! j/k

I think you are talking about Tom Rossman, we are talking about Tom Ross. Tom Ross is a Denver player, author & instructor and most recently worked w/Dr. Dave on the VEPS dvd's.
 
I just received word that Tom continues to improve although his speech is still sufferering. Tuesday, Tom told my friend that he's been hitting some balls and it sounds like he's even able to control the cue ball ... (he is even able to draw the ball a little).

Now that's getting back into the saddle :). Keep on keeping on with your recovery, Tom. Just know that the AZB well wishers have not stopped either.

This is really good news. I went through something very similar and hitting balls did wonders for my self-confidence and definitely aided in my recovery ... which remains in progress five years after the fact.

The last time I saw Tom Rossman, we exchanged stories concerning the confusion. There's even more confusion because "Dr. Dave" has worked with Tom Ross, and Tom Rossman goes by "Dr. Cue:"
"Dr. Dave" and Tom Ross is very different from Tom "Dr. Cue" Rossman :confused:

Although, it's no surprise when people get confused.

Years ago when Tom Ross and Tom Rossman played in tournaments together, there was really confusion on the brackets; and when one of the Toms didn't like their placement on the bracket, it was easy to write in or erase the "man" in the right place to dramatically improve his chances for victory (... not that either Tom ever did this. :eek:).

I hope Tom is doing well. He is a great guy that I only got to meet a couple of times. He defintiely loves the game and was trying to give back with his clinics. Good health to you Tom.

Hi all. First, thanks for keeping this thread going, we are all concerned and interested in Tom’s progress. I have not seen Tom recently, but here’s what I have learned from reliable sources to update the thread:

Tom suffered a seizure maybe 2 weeks ago (could have been a little longer ago) that sent him to hospital for 2-3 days. The good news is last week he was spotted hitting balls at the Skylark Lounge where he worked & taught. So I think he is passed that latest episode and back on track.

Unfortunately, I just have not had the time to go down there to see him to learn more first hand. And, his speech is still garbled or I could talk with him on the phone periodically, oh well.

As I learn more, you will learn more.
