Why do people from Ohio think Ohio is the epicenter of Pool?

This is why so many people on television are from the midwest. Heck I moved to NC 16 years ago and a few years after I moved I turn on the local news to see a girl I graduated high school with.
Pool in Ohio is pretty tough. I spent my teenage years up there seeing guys like Troy Frank, JR Gay, Frank Zummo and a slew of others a ball or two below them.
When I moved to NC in 95 I see Earl, Little Tony, Larry Nevel and a bunch of others playing fantastic pool. The biggest difference I see is the amount of people here playing B level pool. Sorry, but I think NC took the belt a while ago.....especially when I went to go up to visit the other year only to find every pool hall around town had gone away.
They think that way about college football too regardless of the truth. LOL I really think it comes with familiarity the Nashville/Murfreesboro area is getting pretty stout in my opinion but that's the best area I am familiar with.
Id have to agree with this, I was at Action Billiards in Akron once just trying out the Diamond tables they have there. I played for about 10 minutes before I realized I was sharing a room with Corey Deuel, Kenny K. and Dave Brown.
You could go to 10 different pool halls here in SoCal and never see one guy with that talent. I think it may have something to do with the cold weather possibly the economic conditions of a rust belt state.
Ohio for one reason or another also produces the most dominant HighSchool and Collegiate Wrestlers. According to a friend at the University of Iowa, Ohio is on every college coaches recruiting itinerary.

Nothin else to do around here but beat balls around a table... If you're ever in columbus stop in to Sportsmen's. Or Rack attack in port clinton. Columbus competition is strong. Dayton/ Cincinatti has some real strong players, although i've never been out that way.
