May be a complete rumor but I was told buy a predator dealer that predator had a new shaft coming out. Has anyone heard anything? He said he thought the deflection on this new shaft was less than a z2

Bout time! I hope its true, predator hasn't come out with anything new in a while

I love my z2, i heard nothing about this, one of my people is a authorized dealer ,and deals with predator reps all the time, i think something would have been said, i was just up his shop to get tip work done..

Who knows ?

I put in a suggestion to Predator a few months ago to produce a shaft around a 12.30mm tip and a taper close to the Z but a little longer. I think this kind of shaft is the only thing missing from Predator's arsenal.

i'd definitely buy something like that

I hope they listened to you. I have been thinking of ordering a 314^2 online turned down to 12.30.

according to our dealer here in philippines it's a new break cue that's coming out..:)

they always release the new line of cue at the BCA Trade show in June. I am sure there will be plenty of rumors floating around until then. I wouldn't count on a shaft that's in between the 314-2 and a Z-2. Just not cost effective for something like that. I know that they have had a few projects in the works as far as shafts go, kind of excited myself to see what it is!

Do you know what these projects entail? Many players have cues inbetween 12.20mm to 12.50mm diameter, so if Predator came out with a 314 FAT ( which is exactly the same taper but bigger diameter ) why not do something different that isn't offered at all? I think a 12.35mm with a (slightly?) stronger taper then 314-2 would sell. For me the Z is to small but performs well, the 314-2 is still a little flexible for me and so I use the big barrel FAT shaft.

I remember hearing a year or so back that Predator was working on composite versions of their shafts that would deflect even lower then the current performance numbers. Maybe this is what you were speaking about?

I have thought of that but the long pro taper wouldn't work for me, the 314 as is still has a little more flex then I like. I've thought about turning down a BK2 shaft to 12.35mm and just changing the tip (perhaps ferrule), which would be pretty much the Z FAT I was thinking about per se. I believe that taking a shaft down would slightly change the flex point so I'm not sure how it would perform afterwards but I'd think it would still be pretty low deflecting and have a stiff hit.

Take into consideration that they have to engineer, prototype and then mass produce every shaft, it's not cost effective unless they are going to sell 1000's a month. I imagine they are regretting the fat shaft already. You can't please everyone or tailor to everyone's taste. 12.75 is or was one of the most common and 11.75 preformed the best for a thinner shaft. The shafts are designed and produced at specific tapers and diameters for a performance reasons and not just because that is what someone picked or liked.

I can't comment on what I have seen (confidentiality agreement) but I can tell you that they have some amazing projects in the works. You would not believe some of the things that they are working on.

Why did they decide to discontinue the air jump cue? Everyone I've seen for sale on here doesn't last more then a day. I would think the market's still there.

I agree. Seemed like lots of people were buying them. That surprised me.

Are you listening Predator?

You are 100% right! I would buy one.

Is the BK2 as low deflection as the z2 and what taper does it have, cuase this sounds like a good idea to me

just wanted to bump this up to see if anything new was released at the bca expo

McDermott I shaft Much better

I dont know what the commotion is all about . Check or play with the mcdermott i shafts - they are far superior than any made in china products that this company is dumping on people , They are making monkey of out the general pool playing folks , all that is marketing dollars that make people believe that you are getting much more by paying almost 300 dollars for a shaft made by chinese for 10 dollars or less. Not that this is a bad product or anything like that - but dollar for dollar - the mcdermott does the job better and you are supporting a wisconsin based company that employs locals. Even the mcdermott gcore shaft is compartively better for the dollar . Yeah but who cares , the same way the rest of country is going to anyway.
