Well here's how much I loved pool as a kid. I was at Poplar Plaza bowling alley in memphis in 1967. I was in a poker game there in the back room and the guy running the game had put in marked cards. He didn't realize that I knew where the mark was (bee brand) and I was way winner. Billy Johnson came in to the poolroom area looking for action, I quit the poker game to play him, haha, how smart was I ? There went all of my poker winnings, lmao !

Sounds like me in the late 80s and all 90s,win all the money playing pool,but couldnt stand it,had to go to the race track and blow it!
If you knew the guy had mucked in a set of readers you should've gone in with him and bankrupted every one else. You had a lead pipe cinch.
If someone spotted the gaffs, he'd be the one getting shot..he was running the game not you.
I don't believe a word of this bullshit story and I don't believe you won a dime at the card table. Furthermore if you knew anything about cards, unless the guy was a good second dealer, the markings don't give a really strong edge....an edge, yes, but not a STRONG one.
And considering he was using BEE's (which eliminate that white edge from the Bicycles) he probably was a mechanic and had some others in there with him.

@ xd77, first of all back in the sixties way winner was only 4 or 5 hundred dollars. The slight edge that I had was that sometimes I could tell what the guys 2 hole cards were playing 7 stud, no hold-em back then. The guy running the game was the mgr. of the bowling alley and you're right about one thing there was a mechanic in the game . In a 7 handed 7 card stud game marked cards are not as useful as just running up a hand. This ain't no bullshit story either, sorry you seem so aggravated about it.

I must say one more thing then I'm done with it. Back then everybody passed the deal around the table. The mechanic would run up the hand and the guy to his right would false cut the cards. Dealing seconds in a full table stuud game is useless , you only deal once a round, so I'm not as dumb as you accuse me of. Chill

!You are 100 percent right,that would of been the smartest thing to do!i really cant explain the reason why,because i dont know the answer,that sounds stupid i know,but there was just something about that fing race track,maybe the constant action,i know that one of the best highs in the world or feelings is when your horse had won and you are waiting and watching the tote board for the offical sign,so you can go collect your money.(notice i said your money and not your winnings because thats what it is you are just getting a little bit back that you are stuck!).worst gambling game in the world,next to poker machines,is the race track,unless you are in the inside of the game.
