Mike Davis rebounds in the final against Tommy Kennedy. Tom played a near perfect winners side match 9-6 win over Davis. In the end Davis out lasted Kennedy for the win 12-10. Thanks to everyone who put on a great torney in Ft Walon Beach Florida with 80 entries.
 
Andy Grubb Memorial

Andy Grubb was one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. He was in Alaska (back around 1993??) doing some contract work for the military.

I have played in the event a few times before his passing - It was obviously called something else back then.

He was a partner in Starcade Billiards in Ft. Walton Beach, FL.

I think if him often - even though I really did not get to know him that well.

Hats off to continuing the event in his name.

I agree. Andy Grubbs was one of the nicest men in pool I have ever met and I too didn't know him all that well.
 
Andy was a super nice guy. When I was a 19 and stationed at my very first duty assignment, Hurlburt Field (right down the road from Starcade Billiards) I saw and talked to Andy every afternoon when I went in to play. Andy loved pool. He was also a retired Major from the USAF, if I remember correctly.

It's hard not to think of Andy and Starcade in the same thought. He was truely a gentleman and avid pool fanatic. Our conversations were always pleasant and the atmosphere that they created in the Starcade poolroom will go down in history. A great place to play pool, fine staff that creates a wonderful welcoming atmosphere and owners that cared about their customers. The tournaments are always well attended. US Open winners play against state champions and great road players. They had 80 participants with a high level of parity. This is the norm for an exciting weekend of pool. They even had cuemakers there showing off fine cues.

Andy Grubbs should be honored and emulated, as should Starcade Billiards.
