The feel of the hit with several tips...

Hello everyone, as you can see I'm a new guy in this forum... And I would appreciate very much any help I can get...

This is my situation...

I have been playing pool with Cuetec cues mostly, and I have always used Lepro tips because they give me a real nice feedback on each and every shot... I have been improving my equipment and I decided to try the expensive layered cue tips...

I like hard tips because I kind of feel more accuracy, so I tried several hard layered and very popular cue tips on the market, and they're excellent when it comes to hold chalk and put english, but the thing is, I can't get used to the feel of the hit with these tips. Even the hardest leather cue tip is not hard enough for me... I keep missing my shots because I can't feel the solid and accurate hit that I was used to feel with the Lepros. They all feel kind of soft and spongy..

I like these tips because of their low maintenance and their chalk holding, but I don't like the feel of their hits...

What cue tip would you recommend?? Believe me I have tried several and I don't like the feel of any of those...

Could it be related to the pool cue I'm using?

Any suggestion is more than welcome... So far, the Talisman pro Xtra-hard tips are the closest to a solid hit, but still not good enough...

Thanks!!! :)

solid hit has nothing to do with the tip really in the way your talking if you want it to hit harder then try a hard pressed tip with the shoulder cut shorter

Hello,

hm, this is a hard question- because it s all about subjective and personal feelings. What i can tell you for sure is, that the Kamui Black Hard is REALLY hard.

I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean with "shoulder cut shorter"
Please explain me...

the sides of the tip, the taller the tip the less consistent hardness it will be through and through.....i like a 3mm shoulder on mine it holds up super and is thick enough so you don't get anykind of ferrule damage from excessive force.

Ohhh!!! thanks... By the way, what brand of cue tips are you using?

If you liked the way LePros feel, but want something a little harder, try a Triangle.
I have been using them for years. They hold their shape very well, and hold chalk well. I can't remember the last time I had to scuff or shape a Triangle tip.

But, ultimately, making or missing shots is rarely caused by the equipment you are using, but by the way you are using it.

Thanks for the advice... I have tried the triangles and I can't seem to get used to those either because I don't feel them hard enough when they are new (might be because of the roughness they usually come with). Is there any layered cue tip firm and hard like a played for months Lepro?

i use the triangle.......the 15mm version and i press them before install and cut the tip down and shape to 3mm shoulder

the 15mm ones are from a thicker part of the hide so are more consistently dense.....same thing with lepro

Thanks for the info, but how do you press your tips?

Thank you all for all your advices, I took a little bit of everyone and tried my own...

I had some Tiger emerald tips lying around because I didn't like their hardness, but I pressed them and cut them to a 3 mm shoulder and Voilá!!!

Hard and solid hits instantly!!! :)

Now I'm gonna test them to see if they hold their shape and resist delamination...

I guess that every tip can be treated this way to increase their hardness...

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP!!!
