Thats what was banted about during the post match interviews.
Sounds like an awesome match.
We know the money is there because Viffer wants to back Alex.
But Earl complained that Alex is too slow.

But in this thread- Earl is woofing and Alex wont play him.

It would be a great match - but these guys have some history.

I love to see Alex but after this weekend I'd have to take Earl - but who knows???

Alex would get to Earl big time. Can you imagine the things that Alex would say to Earl after Earl throws one of his mini fits? He would get under Earls skin big time!!!

Alex can out play Earl for sure.

oh gimme a break!

Give you a break??
It was Shane who needed a break from Earl's B.S!!!
I've played a lot whiners and bad tempers and it does affect your game, which is why guys like Earl act like a horse's ass.
Pure distraction.
You know that if you play good or get a roll they go balistic.
I play best when it's fun and guys like Earl suck the fun out of the game
just by being unbearably annoying.
Who can concentrate when you're wondering what the jerk is gonna do next?
You know he's just sharking and you cant do much about it.
At one point Shane scratched and pounded the cue ball and Earl goes up and lectures him about being angry!!
Are you kidding me??? cmon the guy is an ass.
Alex and Earl would be a great match but look at the thread at the top.
Alex doesn't need it so Alex won't play!

Alex will probably play because Dippy wants him to and will stake it. Earl said he would only play Alex with a shot clock because ALex shoots too slow.

Alex would have to find a way to shark him back.
There's no shot clock in TAR matches.
Theres a good place to start.
If Alex plays slow it doesn't bug the fans..., just Earl!
If Earl whines about it sloooooow down even more

Its an awesome match great play and moves!!!

I personally think Alex would drill Earl. It's just my opinion, but mainly for two reasons:

1. Alex came up playing snooker and was a Canadian snooker champ. Before anyone jumps on me for claiming that Alex was/is the greatest snooker player ever, I'm definitely not saying that. He wasn't. However, he was an extremely solid snooker player which is why I don't think a 10 footer would intimidate him in the slightest. Shane started on a barbox and moved onto a nine footer. Alex started off on, and made a name for himself on a 12 footer, then moved on to nine footers. Put him back on a big table for a few months, and it'd come back to him like it never left, especially with as much natural talent as he has.

2. Alex wouldn't just sit and idly let Earl just shark him the way Shane did. Shane is far too nice, and is a quiet person by nature. Alex, being a little more boisterous, would either flat out tell Earl off, or do the same to Earl whatever Earl was doing to him. If Earl wanted to try and open his mouth and shark Alex, you can bet Alex would whatever he could to get under Earl's skin - talk to the audience just like Earl, joke around with the audience during Earl's run, talk during Earl's shots, etc. That being said, we all know which one would implode first.

That being said, I would love to see this happen. For the simple reason that I would love to see Earl blow a gasket and fall apart at the seams for his behavior towards Shane. For those who condoned Earl's behavior during the match with Shane by saying "that's just Earl being Earl" - if he played Alex and got treated the way he treated Shane, I will happily say "that's just Alex being Alex" ;).

On a side not, I was rooting for Earl before the Shane match went down. Not so much anymore...

You could put a muzzle on Earl and put him in a sound proof booth after he leaves the table and Shane can't win that game......Shane said in post interview he has no chance to beat Earl on a 5x10 table and Earl antics were not an issue. He said he's played guys like that before and even had a cueball thrown at him and it didn't bother him. Shane is a total pro and is not going to be affected by any self destructing lunatics and isn't going to let any sharking tecniques slow him down. The table was just to difficult for him to overcome and that was the only sharking that he couldn't handle. Shane is a mega champion and this experience will just make him stronger in the future!!

Glad to hear that about Shane. Never heard about the cue ball being thrown at him. Did he say that during the interview?

Not exactly true - Alex was started playing pool in the Philippines first at about age 7 -moved to Canada at about 15 - where he learned to play snooker. In 2003 he made it to the Canadian Open semifinals where he lost to worldclass pro Alain Robideux. Same year he lost to Thorsten H. at the finals of the Worlds in 9 ball.

But you have a point and I would like his chances.

Fair enough. Point is he's played more than his fair share of snooker and definitely proven his mettle, so I doubt a 10 foot table would intimidate him. More than that though is the mental factor that Earl wouldn't be able to get into Alex's head more than Alex would/could get into Earl's. Alex is a naturally high energy guy and would have fun getting into Earl's head if Earl was acting with Alex like he did with Shane.

I think Alex can outmove Earl in the safe/kicking game. Shane moved much better than I've seen him in the past but he's not in Alex's league there. Earl will outshoot Alex making the balls though so I see this as a close match.

Everyone comparing playing snooker to 10-ball on the 10 ft table aren't realizing exactly what Earl said would bother Shane. The problem isn't making the balls, it's moving the cue ball around long distances while making the balls. You have to spin the ball more and still be able to make your object ball. This will bother Alex but I don't think as much as it did Shane. I'd love to see this if it does go down, I might even put a little sweat bet down on Alex. I think he's got a little edge because of his heart.

I said I would never support another earl match, but if alex plays him i will buy it just because I know alex will deal with him properly.

These kinds of threads remind me of elementary school... You know. The classic my dad can beat up your dad disagreements. Or who is stronger, the hulk or superman?

The funny thing is, if you replace "Earl" and "Alex" with "Hulk" and "Superman" in the comments they sound just as juvenile.
