Are these carom head spot locations current and correct?

I would appreciate confirmation on the correct distance between the head spots on a 5'x10' carom table. The image below downloaded from the USBA web site shows the distance as 18.25 cm (7 3/16"). I thought that the correct distance is 6" between the spots., please clarify.

In American rule books from the 1950s, you will find the 6-inch spacing. That changed some time ago. If you don't have a cm ruler handy, its useful to know that there should be 1.97 ball spaces between the two balls when they are spotted. (More exactly, it's 2.000 millimeters less than two ball spaces for new balls.) So: spot your opponent's cue ball, place your cue ball touching, move his ball to the other side, touching, move yours to the other side. Put his back on the spot. That will leave two balls between the cue balls.

Hi Bob, thanks for your reply. Are you saying that the 18.25 cm spacing is correct and current and that the 6" spacing is no longer correct?

Yes. Use 18.25cm (or two ball spaces between).
