Hey New Yorkers...

Sounds like the Golden Cue in Queens.

The Golden Cue is a great room with a lot of serious players. I went to college nearby the Albany area (RPI in Troy) and it was the best place to shoot after our Student Union closed for the evening.

They used to hold a weekly Wed night 9-ball handicapped tournament with a lot of strong local shooters including Mike Zuglan, who I met there.

A guy named Rocky was behind the desk and he was a great guy.

+ they also had a couple of carom tables which is, of course, always nice... :)

skylines my favorite place to play anywhere near the city. its right under the f train so its easy to get to from anywhere in the city. the talent runs the full range from bangers to world beaters. Rob is a good guy, good player, and keeps his equipment in great shape. the neighborhood aint any worse than any other neighborhood in the city. its not like a gang area or anything but dont leave shit in your car if you drive/;dont flash $$ around, Ya know, dont do shit shit ya dont do in any city and youll be fine.

Going back over 30 years and wondering if 2 rooms are still open.
One was the Community Cue in Queens Village (above the movie house on Jamaica Ave) and the
other I can't remember the name but was in Cambria Heights on Linden Blvd and I think 225th St (in the basement).
Those are 2 of the places I used to play at. Since you list you're in Queens, maybe you know?

Heya Dartman! The place on Jamaica ave is still there. Has had many names over the years but has never had a facelift. Always had bad equipment, and was never a players scene(well, maybe 30 years ago). Neighborhood continues to get worse.

Theres a new room on Linden Blvd but its more of a 3 cushion spot. Not sure if its the same one you remember.

I'm planning a NY trip soon - one of those just to go back and visit for old times sake trips since I haven't been there in over 25 years. I'll have to get by the old places and check them out.

Carom Cafe (the late, great, Sang Lee's room) bought all of Master Billiard's Gold Crowns after they closed down and installed some nice lighting for them. Now, together with the very best carom equipment in the country, they have great pool tables. I would check out this room too while visiting NYC - especially if you (hopefully) play a little billiards "extracurricularly". :)

no wonder table 20 (table on the corner along the rail right in front of the atm machine) felt like a tight pocket table!...makes sense now!:p

When I was a boy, many years ago, I used to play at Evon's (an old Ukranian guy) on 7th street between Avenues B and A (opposite Tomkins Square Park). Once in a while I'd go uptown to Ames. But that was a long time ago.
