So I just tried the Magic Rack last night for the first time, and was very impressed. It took a few times to become proficient at doing it quickly, but was not difficult at all to learn. The balls spread very nicely off the rack, and I have not had a situation yet where I could not take the rack off the table after the break. I did notice once though that the CB was ending its roll, touched the rack, and stopped an inch or so before it would otherwise have. It also seemed to stop the 9 ball from moving another 1/2" to 1" a number of times as it was moved so gingerly, leaving the 9 ball inside the rack. Overall though, I really liked using it, and got a much more consistent rack.

I've seen this around and I was using one myself for the first time this Tuesday and had a similiar impression.
The rack will stop the 9 ball from rolling out of the rack when it's moving very slowly. It happened twice out of probably 12 racks we broke. To me this is not acceptable. I mean the 9 ball ending up 3 to 4 inches short from where it would have been makes a big difference. $ometimes all the difference.
My thoughts exactly. I mean, if we're gonna accept restricted ball movement, why ever brush the tables and/or pick the lint off of them? I want to play on a table that does not restrict ANY ball movement. I'll stick to my Delta-13 rack which always gives a good, tight rack in a short amount of time. Now, if the price of the Magic Rack comes down to where it should be for a thin piece of plastic that prolly cost about a nickel apiece to make, then I may get one for those old bar tables that have the ultra worn-out racking areas.

I think its a great practice tool but should not be used in any game of importance
