My Grandpa and I used to play rotation all the time when I was a kid...probably did more for my game than anything else. It really makes you work on your cueball. He called it "Straight Rotation" and often confused the game with 14.1 (which he only referred to as "Straights") when he was telling old war stories about road players he knew back when HE was a kid...I'm sure playing 9 ball with all 15 balls is great, too, but I've never seen that. We always played the race to 61 points (and I'm an Anglo boy from Texas, not Pinoy!). He used to play balkline when he was a kid, but I never got a chance to have him teach me that one...he taught me one pocket, too, but he preferred to play rotation. He called it "real pool".

I've seen a variation of 3 ball where you get 3-6 guys and a bunch of single dollar bills.. each man ante's by placing a bill directly on the playing surface if any balls stop on a bill during your turn you have to ante another dollar.. one tie all tie.. after a few ties you got a table full of cash you can't avoid stopping on bills anymore and playing shape becomes a lot tougher.

How do you win the money on the table? I would have thought it would go to whoever makes the 3 ball but with only 3 balls on the table I don't get how the table could be covered in money unless everyone plays poorly.
Here is a game I have played to practice carom shots. I'm sure there are names for it, I don't know them.
Play much like 8-ball. Rack 15 balls. Swap the 1 ball for the cueball: now the cueball is at the head of the rack, the 1 ball is used as the ball you strike with the cue.
Break by shooting the 1 ball into the cueball. If anything falls, you continue to shoot. (easy to just make sure the 1 goes in!)
Now to continue shooting, you strike the ball you want to make with the cue. The ball must first carom off of the cueball before going into the called pocket.
That's pretty much it, play like 8-ball. Whomever clears their balls and plays the 8 (off the cueball) wins.

in 3 ball you count how many strokes it takes to sink all 3 balls.. every player gets an attempt... low score wins
par is 3 not counting the break. so you really have to get 3 balls in 2 shots to have a crack at winning.. and if someone else does it too... pony up another buck and start the rotation over

Thanks, I'd never played this until once a little while ago as a mini-event at my league one night. I didn't even know what it was called, they just explained how it was played.
I just got a new keno board a week ago and we been playing it almost everyday, except yesterday. Its the best keno board I ever played on, the holes are cut a little on the small side so the ball can roll across the board and in and out of holes which makes for some tense moments, its exciting as all hell. the most we played for was $100/game but no double up on the tie, just a flat $100/game. I'm gonna start a thread on it-for some reason people forgot about how much fun keno pool is, i'm not talking about rolling the ball onto the board like Tooth with the high number winning, thats cool too, but racking the balls and racing to 61 points. I really hope more people catch on to keno pool, i'd play anyone heads up keno on the board I have.

I've played on lots of boards and they were ok, this board is so well designed it makes the game much better. I'm gonna start a thread on it.
3 ball can be great fun too, there are so many pool games that have just been lost in the past, 6ball or "short rack" is great too. I hope some of these games come back to life, keno is the best of all tho.
