In a large tournament ,,team event,,,, and you put a team in the loser bracket. Then ,after a day of continuous shooting ,your team is put into losers bracket. Next day,,,you find your team playing "that" team that you put in losers bracket.
I have seen this happen 3 times over the years,,I don't think it happens very often. (at least not in the tournaments where there is over 100 teams entered,as I am referring to)
I have been on both sides of this. And all 3 times,,the team that was put into the losers bracket first, and now facing (again) the team that put them there----------------> Has always won the 2nd match up!!

I think its a mental thing. Team "A" is over confident because they have already beat team "B" once.
And team "B" is prepared for a battle because they have already been beat by team "A".

Its a great thing to be team "B" in this situation. A great feeling!! Not so much for team "A" ,,,but by this time both teams are well into the money!!

It's not just a mental thing. The team that went to the losers bracket has played ALOT of pool since that loss on the A-side, alot more then the team that stayed on the winners bracket. After that initial loss they have gone on to beat alot of teams and gain alot of confidence. They are in stroke at that point, possibly more then the team that stayed on the A-side because they have played twice as many matches since the loss. It has been a long time since the B-side team has lost, and the loss that knocked the A-side team down is alot fresher in their minds.

It is a combination of mental AND simple momentum and likely a very very hot B-side team that are now in dead stroke because they have played consistent match after match for a long time now and done so winning ever since that loss.

As the A-side team you need to be aware that the B-side team was likely cold, maybe had a little of the early match nerves, they are clearly shooting the lights out to have stayed in the event on the b-side and you are probably not going to be playing the same team you beat 2 or 3 days ago on the A-side. Be ready to play a team that is alot better then that team you beat.
