2. From the Rex Gauge web site: "Durometers are used to measure the hardness of non-metallic materials, such as rubber, plastic, foam, wood, etc... A durometer works by measuring the penetration of the gauges indentor under the specific conditions of a given durometer standard." 3. If you read through the thread cited in #1 above, you will know what points or prongs are. Veneers are thin pieces of material (usually wood, either dyed or not dyed) that may be used as edging on the point wood -- for decorative or structural reasons. Wood veneer may also be used in a cue's rings or for inlays.
