Adding Veneers

Can Veneers be added to a Cue after the cue has been completed with CNC points but no veneers. I would like to know if I can get a cue to be refinished and while doing that add 2 Veneers, one in the existing open slot inside the edge of the points where it looks like it should naturally go and one more Veneer outside the CNC points where there is also room. Wanted to know if this can be done and roughly if it is possible to do after a cue is made what kind of price would I be looking at.

Just about anything can be done, but that doesn't mean it should be done. In this case it would be much easier and cheaper to build a new cue from scratch than to add veneers to existing points. It's not impossible but it's definitely not cost effective to do the job. Talk to Eddie Wheat, he may be able to do it with markers. LOL

Yes, it can most likely be done. But will someone do it besides the original maker? This issue came up a while back and most cuemakers on here sided that it is wrong to add inlays to another cuemakers work. I and a few others took the other side and said it is the customers cue to do with as he pleases, as long as he does not try to pass off the new work as original to the cue. I was in favor of the cue being permanently marked that the new work was done by someone else. I am not interested in the work myself, but Sheldon is very good at doing the type of work you are talking about, as he has mastered that type of CNC work. You might ask him if he would do it. I would agree with Sherm that is probably more expensive than it is worth to do.

Hi,

No one is going to do this cheap. Custom CNC work is very time consuming and is very expensive for a one off feature pocket and parts. There is a lot of CAD work and testing to do to complete and verify a special geometry.

You are creating a mousetrap. After the work is done the cue needs to be re-tapered down making it thinner. The shaft joints must be changed and the shafts has to be completely redone as far as the finish process is concerned.

Sell your cue and buy one you like. You will be ahead by a mile.
