New Video Commercial Produced & Directed by Jim Murnak

Thanks Edd

I appreciate your posting the commercial. It is something I have always liked doing and I'm actively trying to do work for anyone who is in need of a video or commercial. Your product was interesting to work with. I wouldn't mind hearing from people out there if they ever considered using such a product to enhance their playing.

Thanks,
Jim

The importance of pool as a mental game, cannot be overstated. As I note on the sleeve of the CD, pool is defined as a precision, non-reactive sport.
It is quite intriguing, actually, that the unconscious mind does not recognize the difference between actually engaging in a sport activity and visualizing one's physical performance. The latter, on a minute scale, actually helps to build muscle, or molecular, memory. This concept is a mainstay of sports psychology.
This CD, with regular and consistent use, is one way to enhance this skill. Jim's video certainly captures its essence.

I've actually received a couple of interesting inquiries about the importance of the mental aspect of the game. Essentially, the inquiry is what benefit may one expect to get from developing the mental part of the game.

First of all, the importance of the mental game is really quite significant and, in that regard, is very similar to other sports deemed to be precision, non-reactive sports - golf and archery, for example.

Herein, focus, concentration, anxiety control and visualization are key components. Any enterprise that develops the capacity to calm the self assists directly with enhancing focus and concentration: meditation, yoga and hypnosis are some examples. Developing visualization skills are critical. Remember as I've stated earlier the unconscious mind does not know the difference between visualizing an action and actually performing that action.

Any further questions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

what benefits have been reported?

Thanks for the inquiry, Daniel. Several players have reported a decided benefit in focus and concentration - which, in general, is a common benefit from regular use of hypnosis or meditation.

One semi-pro player was quite emphatic that he noticed a marked improvement in his visualization skills. That is, he reported he was able to imagine the path of the cue ball more clearly and even reported that the felt appeared a more vibrant color.

and even reported that the felt appeared a more vibrant color.

I had sent Lawrence a PM and mentioned that I am a 3rd degree Reiki practitioner.

The above quote does have some significance. When I do a Reiki treatment on myself, better if you have another practitioner do it for you but its like anything else, sometimes you have to do it by yourself. Ooops, did I just say that.

Anyway, after meditation or self induction this is quite a common occurence and can become more natural the more you meditate or practise self induction. Not only can you see colors more vibrantly, all you have to do is look at a lawn for example. Instead of seeing a sea of green, you will see each individual blade of grass. Same can be said about leaves and trees. So, what does that mean in the grand scheme of things. One word. Focus.

Kamui chalk is $25 and the Pool cd is $18. Not really that much when you think about it.

Jim, I enjoy watching your videos.. you do a great job! What are you using for the creation of them? Were you at the Derby.. the extremely sharp dressed man? If that rings a bell, I'll have to dig up a pic and see if it's you.

Again.. I"m impressed with your work.. what background did you have in this.. is it something you've done in real life?

Thanks for the input, Terry. As you say, the bottom line is improved focus. Nothing magical here. We are typically so fragmented and distracted in this culture, that any enterprise that increases our inborn capacity to be present-in-the-moment, will undoubtedly improve our focus and, consequently, our execution at the table. Pool is an act of meditation!
