Where's the price of chalk going?

Its hard to understand why anybody would pay $25.00 a cube, but for the best way to understand why this chalk is so special there's a video on youtube you might want to watch that will give you the greatest visual explanation on why.But remember(keep a straight face):wink:

The market will dictate where the price of chalk goes.

Right now you have a couple of marketeers trying to convince players they have a product that justifies a very high (read: stupid) price. Odds are chalks will continue to appear with ever lower prices until the guys making the "magic" chalk think they've found the sweet spot where enough players are buying the stuff at a high enough price that they can laugh all the way to the bank.

I'm not saying this is any different than a lot of other things out on the market, I'm just saying that they started out at such a high price that the whole thing is transparently absurd. Who knows -- if they had started at $5 a cube they might have gotten away with it.

Supply and demand. As long as someone is willing to pay large for chalk, they will continue to charge. I bought a gross of Masters (144 pieces) recently, so I'm good for a long time.
On a side note, I have been in the specialty chemical business 40 years. I can guarantee you the profit margin on this expensive chalk is HUGE! They are taking the consumer for a ride, and laughing all the way to the bank. I'll just keep using my Masters thank you very much.

I'll just keep buying Master's Chalk from Seybert for $3.25 for a box of 12. Works fine for me.
