Gallbladder Attacks!

hmmm

Holy **** this hurts.

I'm slated for surgery wenesday, but these things are killing me. The pain pills they gave me barely take the edge off it.

So I've been reading up on homeopathic remedies. Some of them seem pretty wild. Anyone tried anything that helps with the pain? I'm open to suggestions.

On another note...I know the surgeon, he dug shrapnel out of me in Iraq. Small world huh?

Yep, lay off any "rich" foods, high in fat, anything greasy, etc. That is what starts the process up. Eat some bland foods, toast, low or no fat foods, etc. That will get you through until surgery.

Once the surgery is over you will be good to go. The first few weeks seemed like the body was getting use to the organ being gone, then it adapts, and you are as good as new. I can eat anything now with no problems...... had it taken out about 3 years ago.

By the time the OP and the other readers get through reading this thread we will probably have knocked a few billion off of health costs, nobody will want to go anywhere near a hospital!!

I wish the goverment would pay for the whole thing. The VA is only footing the bill for half, because it is an elective surgery. There goes my new custom cue for a couple months....

always like what they call elective!

I always like what the call "elective". They aren't the ones hurting. Kinda like my doctors; they are impervious to pain, other people's pain! I remember when I shattered a shoulder joint: "Does this hurt?" "No" "Does this hurt?" "No" "Does this hurt?" "You are damned straight it does, I'd have to break something to put your arm there!"

Never had trouble with my gall bladder, but have had kidney stones three times. Got rid of them myself after finding a way to do so online. If the pain is anything like kidney stones, I feel for you. It can be excruciating at times!

Aborted the stones yourself huh Neil? How did you handle your baby teeth? string and doorknob?

Gall Bladders do have stones, some are very large, big as Wall Nuts, and you may have several of them much smaller, they are black in color and very nasty looking, and are very infected, you do have a chance of dieing from infection if one happens to burst during the removeal, hope your doctor is experencied in this type of operation.

My mother died from this surgery last November, but she was to old to have it done, I knew she wouldn't make it, the older you are the more likely , or higher the chances you have of dieing from infection.

I have gall blatter attacks from time to time, did several test, mine is only working 29%, that was three years ago, so the doctor left it up to me as to have surgery or not.

I'm going to have mine taken out after I get back from my two month camping & hunting trip I always go on in October, so guess I'll have it done the first of the new year, not going to wait around any longer.

I do know the pain well, it sure is a ***** when trying to play pool with the feeling of a six inch knife stuck in under your rib cage and trying to play pool, puts a crimp in your style for sure!
