4. Coming in September...Pool-Net and smart phones team up..More info coming.

5. National locations announced for 2012 and 2013...Charleston, S.C. Chicago, Ill. We will return to Bally's in Las Vegas this November.

Personally, I really enjoy TAP pool...love the "call your shot" format.

We played in the Nationals in Charleston a couple of years ago...very nice set-up, and a really nice town to play in. This "Sticky Fingers" ribs were great, too.

Joe

Thanks Joe

Glad you like TAP, Joe. The host location in Charleston enjoyed our stay there so much 2 years ago that they plan on hosting their own welcome back party for TAP..... Bally's in Vegas was great too. Looking forward to going back there in November. If you make it there, look me up and say hello. Sam

TAP league

We recently remodeled, adding beer, wine and leagues for the first time. The TAP league has been great and our local licensees, Paul and Laurie Kinney, are in the process of adding another day. Congrats on your growth and hope to see you in Vegas!

Who said pool is dying?

Both me and the other half play in TAP and enjoy it. We played in the team events at Valley Forge and took third place. Had a blast! We have another team heading to Bally's in Nov. My first time to Vegas and I'mm looking forward to it. I'll see if I can put a handshake on you. We are the team coming out of the Baltimore area, hon!

See you there!

Look me up

When your in Vegas, look me up. Since it's your first time, make sure you hit the Belaggio's (right across the street) fantastic buffet. If you get there just before 4 pm you get in at the lunch price (about 1/2 less then the dinner buffet. The buffet is simply amazing at any price.

Glad you guys are enjoying TAP.

Hello from TAP Las Vegas

Happy to see all of the positive feedback! Thanks for the money saving tip on Battista's. They do have excellent food.

My husband and I run TAP Las Vegas and we can't wait for Nationals. We just awarded 3 8-ball teams and 2 9-ball teams the opportunity to compete and have a Vegas Vacation :o). They all competed in our annual Vegas Masters 8-Ball & 9-Ball State Championship & National Qualifiers. We send an average of 1 in every 15-20 teams to Nationals!

We just added the 10-ball format for a small group and they really enjoy playing. We're adding "Scotch Double Sundays" in the fall.

If anyone from Vegas wants to learn more about playing, visit our website at www.taplasvegas.com or give me a call at 702-558-7665. There is opportunity to play all over the U.S. and Canada. TAP provides a great League Locator at www.tapleague.com.

Can you tell us who is going to run/own the rights to Charleston? I understand if you can't.. just curious.

Thanks,

-Britt

The way TAP is going after the CPA in Toronto is a joke... They are telling all cpa players that if you join TAP you will play 1 skill level lower then what you play in the Cpa so if i am a sl7 i will play as a sl6... That to me is sandbagging and that is going after someones business. Thats not the way to run a league.. But i wish you all luck .

Never played in TAP but I'm curious to know what TAP is doing to prevent sandbagging? I played APA and it's good except that a lot of people sandbag. This really takes out the fun for me playing league.

TAP has a different handicapping system then the APA/CPA. Many players at the 5-6 and 7 skill levels in the APA are one lower in TAP. This is not uncommon at all and sandbagging has nothing to do with it. Also,TAP has a 25 point team limit compared to 23 points in that league which means teams do not have to look for lower skill level players as much in TAP. Lower skilled players will result in players handicaps going up since the average 5 will win more often and go to a 6 faster in that league then in TAP.
As for TAP going after someone else's business, I believe they call that free enterprise...Exp...Pepsi vs Coke, BK vs Micky D's, Home Depot vs Lowes. I personally had the APA ops here contact my players and even use my name in the past to try and get TAP teams. I guess that is OK?

P.S....Of the 35+ new licensees I mentioned, I believe everyone but one was a former or at the time current APA member. We didn't call them. They called us.

I wish you the best in whatever league you play and compete in....Sam

In Las Vegas, the TAP handicaps tend to be one under the APA, but that is not because anyone is sandbagging. That's simply because it is a completely different system. After your first week playing TAP, your scores are entered and you get a unique computer generated handicap based on your overall playing ability. The handicaps are based on many different weighted categories over an extended period of time, so it is more difficult to sandbag. In Las Vegas, many of our players compete in all of the leagues. If you really want to see how it works and how the handicaps adjust, play :o) I think you'll find the system very accurate and the features in PoolNet (the handicap system) very interesting. You can evaluate your overall playing abilities overall and against different skill levels. Consider it another fun night out

They do about as much as every other league to prevent sandbagging, which is to say: little or nothing depending on your league operator.

TAP is a great league organization, but like every league, there are people who abuse the system if they are given leeway. And also like every league, your league operator has a lot more to do with how well your league is run than any national body does.

At Valley Forge this past March there were no more then 10 or so dq's out of well over 1,000 to 1,500 players. That's less then 1%. I ran the singles event and I dqed one player that I can remember. I personally am seeing players tired of sand baggers and cheaters. The majority of the league players just want a honest game. As the old saying goes, it only takes a few bad apples to ruin it for the rest....PS....What's bad is sometimes we dq a player that just got "hot" but even then, you can't come in and expect to even do that with TAP.

Well it happens with every league. TAP is great, not trying to dog on them at all. Like I said, there is little/nothing to be done about determined sandbaggers, and individual league operators make all the difference in how things are run on the local level.

I really miss playing in TAP leagues. I've played in TAP, APA, and a BCA format league for years and TAP was by far the most enjoyable and "honest". Of course there were incidents where you'd run up against or hear about sandbaggers. But, it's been my experience that they usually get caught or it evens out in the end. The league directors usually know who the potential trouble makers are for the most part.

But unfortunately, TAP just isn't available here in Korea. In fact, the only option we have is a steaming pile of cow dung compared to any league in the states!

But, soon enough I'll be back in Maryland kicking Rugerfan's tail all over the table!

Have fun in Vegas guys.... but not too much fun! ;)
