No luck finding a 3/8-8 spiral tap?

You still have a few options.
Get an Elite import radial pin and take it to a tool-grinder.
Tell him you'd like flutes & lead ground into it to make a tap.
Pay the man and send it out to be hard-chromed to build it's diameter
up a couple of thou.
You'll have to cut a shank on it. Best to do that before you have it chromed.
Take it back to the tool-grinder and ask him to touch-up the cutting edge.
Bingo, you've got a tap.
OR
Contact one of the major tap manufacturers and tell them what you want.
They've probably been approached 100 times on this tap by now and may even have a program.
If not, they can write one from your sample.
They'll charge you about $250 a pc though they could be more now.
I have one of the undersize Schmelke style taps and I have one that I made from a pin.
I create the initial threads with the U/S tap then open the hole with MY tap.
It works. When no one else makes it, that's when you have to.

3/8-8 spiral tap
I know you probably don't need the tap anymore, but if you did, I can have one made for $85.50. It may sound high, but it's a 1 piece price. It would be a 30º helix, spiral flute tap. They take 1 day to make. If you have any other need for bastard thread taps, let me know. Thanks, Wolf

I'm not sure what this means, the tap would be made in Roscoe, Illinois.

Let me see if I can offer a little clarity here.
The 3/8x8 ball-screw pin is referred to as the 'import radial' because it's not used
on American made cues. We only use the Uni-Loc Radial or exact knock-offs of it.
Several Asian manufacturers have tried to copy the concept with their own version but
the dimensions and pitch are slightly different. Obviously, they are not interchangeable.
I don't think that Pedi is suggesting that your tap would be made in Asia as he is referring
to Asia as the place where the pins and corresponding taps originated.
BTW, that's an outstanding price you're offering for custom-made taps.
I expect you'll soon become a very popular guy around here.
