I'm planning to go up on Saturday to watch but I'm not finding a heck of lot of details. The Turning Stone website says it starts at 10am but the Tour's website says registration starts at 10 and matches start at 1pm.

I'm assuming the tour's website is accurate. Can someone please verify that for me?

Also, will there be any vendors there? I need a new case and there is no place in my area to buy one and I won't buy one off the internet without being able to look at it in person first.

Thanks
-matthew

Turning Stone should start at 10am Saturday. Lots of matches on moving day there.

They had a couple vendors with cues and cases in December.

I was going to play but its a big cost to go alone. I may come to watch on the weekend, its a great venue and tournament, I am sure you will enjoy it.

I haven't been to the Turning Stone in a long while, but usually, they have a players meeting *first* before the matches begin on the first day.

That may be what the registration is, for players meeting, and the matches will start at 1 p.m.

Thanks for the replies. I guess we'll go up earlier than originally planned, then.

The registration is usally on the Thursday. Maybe you read through quickly or it could be a little foggy on the website.

You are absolutely right. Registration or players meeting is before Saturday.

I think some matches do start at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

It's a little foggy to me, anyway. I've never been to a tournament before so I need things spelled out.

From joss9balltour.com:
Doors open at 9:30am
Registration Closes at Noon
Matches begin at 1pm

The Turning Stone site says it starts at 3pm on Thursday and 10am on Saturday. I guess I'll go with that. If we get there and matches haven't started, I'm sure we could find something to do...

If you're getting there on Saturday, 10 a.m. is the right time, I think.

You'll have a lot of fun. I love Turning Stone casino. It is quite a different atmosphere than Vegas and A.C. The people at this casino actually like pool people and treat everybody like they're royalty. I have fond memories there.

The tournament actually begins on Thursday. There is a players meeting around 2pm and then play starts around 3pm. On Friday and Saturday it will start around 10am in the morning. It is in the arena and not a bad seat in the house, it is a great tournament to go and watch. The finals are Sunday night around 8pm

Thanks. It took a while for it to click but now it's obvious that the players wouldn't have to register every day of the thing.

If I lived a bit closer (and didn't have to catch a plane Monday morning) I would go on Sunday to watch the finals. As it is, Saturday is the only time I could get up there. I'm really looking forward to it.

In December Brittany Bryant and Erik Hjorleifson were my road and room partners. Somehow I managed to rack up $130 in food comps in about a day.

Only bad thing about the place now, one drink per person, per order. Sucks being the guy who goes to buy, you all have to go! Oh, I guess the smoking in the casino isnt all that awesome either.

Hopefully I can get a few buddies to come down in December to play the event. The hotel cost divided by one is not good. :(

Yikes! I forgot about the smoking. I quite 3-1/2 years ago.

The good thing, though, is that there is NO SMOKING in the big room where the pool is being played, as well as in the hallways of the casino. ;)

I didn't know they sold alcohol now. That's actually a bummer for me. I mean, I don't drink alcohol, but my better half does enjoy partaking in fine spirits. :embarrassed2:

May the Warm Winds of Heaven
Blow softly upon your house.

May the Great Spirit
Bless all who enter there.

May your Mocassins
Make happy tracks in many snows,

and may the Rainbow
Always touch your shoulder.

Maynard was my railbird buddy. We became such good friends. I know his spirit will be there. He loves pool so much. RIP, Maynard.

Thanks Jerry!!!!!!

Our 6 PM match will be Johnny Archer V Ron Casanzio.

8 PM will be Rodney Morris V Mike Zuglan. Zuglan just beat Dennis Hatch on the hill with a VERY tough runout in the final rack. Beautiful to watch!
