Heading to Olathe, KS next weekend

Have a project for work, haven't confirmed travel yet but might be heading to Olathe from the 23rd - 27th or so.

I believe there is a nice room there (Shooters), is that pretty much the place to go? From the website it looks nice, even has 3-cushion tables, definitely have to get some time on those! Anyone in the area who might be interested in shooting some 9/10 ball or billiardS?

You wont have any problems matching up at anything there, great place with plenty of gamble....
 
Wouldn't be opposed to matching up for some small stakes stuff, or even just using the time to practice, more looking to just meetup with fellow AZB'ers who play pretty well who live in the area.

I live 5 hrs away from there,but ive been there alot.If you have any cue issues see doug patrick,His shop is set up inside shooters.He is a world class cue builder in my opinion,he makes beautiful cues that play awesome! He is also a fellow azer, and plays well.He might match up something cheap (if you can get him out of his office)!
 
Confirmed my travel plans, will be in Olathe Thurs Sep 22 - Tue Sep 27.

At the moment planning on being there Thursday night for a while and will try to make it up for one of the tournaments I saw that Shooter's holds on Fri or Sat night. That seems like the place to go. Hopefully get another session as well depending on work.

Again, if any fellow AZ'ers are in the area and want to play or can provide more info on Shooter's or other rooms in the area would appreciate it.

Bump, should be there this Thursday night for some practice and some long awaited 3-cushion (no tables in my area!). Hoping to play in one of the weekend tourneys as well as time permits.

If anyone is in the area and wants to play let me know!

Wish I could join you on the 3C tables but I'm in Chicago then. Great place any size table you want and plenty of action. have a good time and don't forget to sign the register. Its a private club. They just might require you to pay the $10 for membership but go in like you own the joint and sign in at the counter. See what happens. I believe there's a guest sign in. Its all about the smoking laws.

Hello,Scott,

My son Manny and I will be at shooters on thurs, If you just want to play some I`m sure Manny will play you some 9ball, or 8ball or 1 pocket, He`s working on his 3 cushion game.

We usually get there around 6.30 or 7, will stay till about 10 or 10.30 , Manny has school in the morning. Anyway let me know if you want to play him and I will let him know. Thanks

Oh! By the way Manny just went through a field of 26 players to win the title this weekend at Sharks 1st ever 9 ball tournament played on barbox.

He is hitting them good!:smile:

Danny the Proprietor does play too. (friendly) Its a great place to eat Barbecue- For Tournaments they BBQ brisket and chicken galore too. You won't leave hungry. Danny Harriman shows up,and Scott his Roommate play 14.1. You'll love the atmosphere. Anybody could be there Pro's too. Some of the best older bar table players. It is action Central !! mark

Is that a recent pic? Not sure my ego can take getting drilled by a kid... :)

Manny is a bit older now - and a little taller than in that pic. He's a dern good player and has a lot of potential. Pick on Hector. ;)
 
Question

Is Manny 13? I was just wondering because a friend of mine who plays real good, Marshall Rooney, played in the last big tournament up at Shooters, and said he got drilled by a 13 year old kid!!! .... lol

Manny is 13 now, Plays light out!:smile: Don`t know what your speed is ,But Manny is known to give weight if needed.;)

Yep that would be Manny, Your friend does play well, just ran into Manny!:grin:

All kidding aside though Manny is a good kid, has a good head on his shoulder and is a pleasure to watch him play and to know him. Oh yeah , I`m his dad!:grin:

P.S. Manny won the VNEA International JR Championships this year in June, He went udefeated all week! He also won the scotch doubles event with his friend Taylor Anderson another great Jr player whos about 18 yrs old now, And Manny also won the speed pool competition and the overall speed pool Championship, Defeating all other divisions.

Hector...How come you didn't get Manny into the BEF Junior National tournament? He might have won that, and been able to go represent the USA in the World tournament that just concluded in Poland (won by three Polish kids, btw...two boys and one girl).

Hi! Scott,


Manny was studying up on Poland as if he had already won, He was determined to make it to the world Championships.

Manny was entered and we were all set to go, but at the last minute I had some health issues and could not find a backup driver, So unfortunately he was unable to go. Yes, this broke my heart, not to be able to get him there.


We will try again next year for sure! :smile:

Appreciate it! Sounds like you have a talented and good kid there, a great combination.

I can hold my own against most people so should be fun practicing, I definitely need to stop practicing various things by myself so much and just play more competitive games against good quality competition, whether just for practice or in tournaments. Something I think I've been lacking to get to that next level, but time is always a constraint. I'm hoping I can play in one of the nightly tourneys while I'm out there too, assuming those are played on the 9' tables?

Friday nite tourney played on barbox same on Sat. nite unless they are tied up in league tourneys. Fridays a tough tourney good players. usually 30 plus most times 40 plus in cold weather.


Sat will see the KC rated barbox tourney in blue springs about 30-40 min from Olathe. Great tournament travels around KC. 40 dollar entry open tables good payout. Manny split the championship last winter with Doug Patrick.


You will find lot to do at shooters always someone willing to play some, all levels. hope to see you there on thurs nite, Might not get there till 7.30 as Manny and I will be eating a steak dinner thanks to my opponent and fellow player who owes me a steak dinner, I won`t say his name here.lol:D
