Shout Out to the Pacific Northwest

I just wanted to share the positive experience I've had learning how to play pool here in the Puget Sound area of washington.

I moved to a small town outside of Seattle by way of New York and made the long, long, (3500) mile drive out on my own to get a change of pace, and a change in career.

I didn't really know anyone when I first moved here so I joined a bowling league to try and make some effort at social interaction. Every now and then I would show up early and hang out at the bar in the alley and shoot a couple
of games of pool.... I had never really played much pool before but it was something to do since the arcade is pretty beat up.

I guess I wasn't too miserable at banging balls around because the next thing I know this guy is asking me to be on his pool team.....(I didn't even know pool teams existed then!http://forums.azbilliards.com//images/newsmilies/embarrassed2.gif )

Fast forward a year and a few months.....I have been playing pool almost every day, I have met a wonderful group of people that have been nothing but kind, and willing to offer pointers to a newbie. There's a tournament held here every Monday at a local bar that is seriously the highlight of my week.

Learning from great players, doing something I am passionate about, in this beautiful area. What more could I ask for?

Good to hear you're enjoying it out there....it's beautiful out there and they have a strong pool following. And you hopped right into the forums to boot. You don't appear to be a bashful type of guy :D

LoupSeul,

Welcome to the great Pacific Northwest and welcome to AZB.

If you are talking about the tournament at the Sports Keg then I definately have a feeling we see each other every Monday. Not hard figuring out who you are since theres not to many New Yorkers out here...lol.

On a side not, your game has improved a lot since you first started showing up to the tournaments, which is great to see. It shows to me that you have the passion for the game and are using the tidbits of knowledge that you get from the locals to improve your game.

This site has more knowledge on the game than any, so hopefully you use it wisely.

Oh, one piece of advice, before you start a thread asking questions about a certain subject, use the "search" option to see if that subject was already discussed.

Welcome again,,,and its a pleasure having you in the pool clique.

Paul (not the cue maker Paul, the other one....lol)

Thanks Paul, I try and take away something I learn watching you guys and work on it each week. It's been a blast meeting all you guys! See you this weekened in Bellingham?

I live outside of Woolley...did I see you up at the Alger shoot a few weeks back? People around these parts are pretty passionate about the game...maybe because it rains so much and is a great indoor activity. Welcome to AZB!

Sorry, I have my boys this weekend so pool playing takes the back seat. I may bring them up to the Villiage and grab some lunch, but we will see what the boys want to do.

Good luck and have fun.
