This place is great! Definitely a pool bar. Well maintained 8 and 9 foot tables, Simonis cloth, great staff and friendly people. League play on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Last Resort Saloon

Thanks Bill

How about it folks ... or is pool dead in south Fla?

I liked Beyond Billiards in Davie, but that was 5 years ago. Lots of low end action. Not sure how it is now, but theyre still open under the same name.

I think you should just google the pool rooms and anyone that has a website, visit them first.

If you depend upon entirely upon others to steer you to the pool halls with your preferences, you might miss out on some special places.

You could probably have gotten more responses if you asked which pool rooms you should stay out of. :D

I'm not Joey. I have been to a few places south of Ft Lauderdale but not north. Already googled it and found a few but looking for members recommendations. Probably should have titled this "whats the best", lol.

The current places to go in Broward:
Beyond Billiards: Gold crown action tables, newly recovered Big G gandys the rest of the room. 1p action here

Gold Crown: Gold crowns, smaller room, action moved here after Hollywood billiards closed. APA play on a number of days there (like sun nights). Might not want to go then, hard to get a table and the better players arent there.

Corner Pocket: Excellent equipment. Good players there. Action table is a triple shimmed gold crown.

I believe all the places have beer/wine. Dont think they have liquor.

for miami the pickings are slim.

Sharpshooters. Gold crowns and the best room in miami right now. Some smaller action to be found, esp 1p and 14.1

Doral billiards: pricey and crappy brunswick metros with fast as ice billiard cloth on em. not recommended

Bird Bowl. Forget about it. no players, so so equip

New Wave: Beat to crap brunswicks. No action. no Tournies. lots of gangbangers hang here

The Bar scene:

Tootsies: Strip club that has a group of barboxes in their sports bar area. Apa runs out of here. Not likely to find players but drinks and hot girls who hustle the fek out your bankroll are plentiful.

Zekes Roadhouse. on south beach. one bar table. Cheaper drinks for south beach. dive hangout that has character. no action. no players.

Sunset tavern South Miami: One barbox. cheap drinks. UM Crowd for gamedays. might find some apa level players here but usually stone pool idiots.

Sculleys : bar that has good food, cheap drinks and two barboxes. APA played here on tues. no players hang out here.

There are no tournies in Miami that I know of. None in broward either. West palm has a tourny i heard at Grovers near the airport.

I'll second the ride north to Ultimate Billiards in Fort Pierce... a great room. They work hard to make everything right.
A couple of good but inexpensive hotels within a quarter mile or so... maybe make a couple of day trip to make it worth while.
Good website, worth checking it out.

Thanks guys. I'm staying in Sunrise so Ft Pierce is about 2hrs. May try to check that out earlier in the day. Not looking to travel south of Hollywood Blvd so anything in Dade Cty is probably out but appreciate the info on that area. If all else fails may check out some of those places around Miami.

Rick,
Don't forget to give us a follow up on your visit to some of these pool rooms. Inquiring minds want to know. And if you sneak up on some unsuspecting AZBer like uwate and clean his clock, let us know that too.

Trip report? Yea, good idea.
I'd cut Uwate some slack thanks to his posts here. :D
