It's been sitting in an elite cuebuilders warehouse for 15 years. A friend of mine came into this recently and I am helping him move some. It's $18 a stick + shipping, discounts for bulk sales or trade for other cue related materals!

On the way to the PO with the first orders. If anyone else is interested I may be able to get some more to the PO tomorrow. After that I may be out of town for a while. Remember the holidays are coming. What better way to show someone you care than giving them wood!!!!

I really like the bright red color of the padauk Larry. Good looking stuff.

Padauk is a pretty wood, very bright orange when first cut with a chavoyance on the flat sawed side of the dowel when turned round but as it ages it will lose most of it's color and turn brown. I made a number of great looking cues with it in the early nineties but haven't used it much in the last 12 or 14 years because of this. It will still look fairly good but not nearly as impressive as when the cue was first built.

Dick,

Excellent clarification, we really need more of this with everything that comes up for sale. Otherwise, this forum is going to become bait for the little fishes to get eaten.

Dick is right on the money. It looks good for a few months then you wish you had used something else. It's physical properties are good for cuemaking but so much else looks better and plays as well.

It could be used as an inexpensive one piece butt. It turns well, is stable and has the right weight. A butt cap, joint collar, and screw and you're ready to go.

I am looking to do a couple of cues that will be soccer themed and red are their jersey colors. Benfica and Manchester United. They will have some inlay work and such with ringwork and black leather wraps. Thanks for the clarification Paul and Dick.

the wood was freshly cut some 25 years ago....think its had plenty of time to get brown if it was going to.:p

The cues I have made using Paduak have been a deep rich reddish color that is brilliant. Like purpleheart as well, stains and certain sealers will turn them brown and ugly. If you know how to handle these woods properly you will end up with a beautiful cue.

What is soccer???

I talked to Paul Drexler about this wood yesterday. He was the owner of the wood for the last 15 years. He said the color of this paduck dosen't degrade like some he has worked with. He also said the was more dence and less pourous than other paduck.

When I told him how much we had sold. He recommended we not sell anymore. Those of you who know Paul, know he stays up with current events. I didn't realize that the best paduck came from the area that was devastated by the sunami a few years ago. Paul said that the market normally has a four year supply. Paul predicted that in a few years paduck will be expensive and impossible to find.

With that in mind. I am only selling 50 more pieces at this time!

I'm actually surprised that, knowing what he knows, he would have let it go in the first place.... having it that long already, whats a couple more years.
I personally like the color of the wood, but it doesn't play well with my skin, or nose.

My understanding is, he has a box car of the stuff. Now he is making room for something he dosen't have much of. No use keeping more than a life time supply. Besides, It helped his pocket book too.

I am sure that there is still plenty of padauk available ;)
