Scheduling for Tournments

With all the problems with pool in the US why do promoters schedule on top of each other. Case in point is the WPBA having their 2012 opening event on top of the end of Derby City. Derby has been schedule the same time for years why would they do that. Also see others scheduling on top of the Super Billiards Expo. Give me your thoughts on this.

Scheduling for tournaments

Well, sometimes things are out of your hands.

The site (casino) might only be available on certain days.
So it becomes a decision to compete days or just cancel.

It happens all the time and often sucks.

Point in fact: US Bar Table has been scheduled for several years but this year and last year, the WPA World 8-ball has been scheduled on top of us.

So we lose probably 5-10 of the best players (Svb,Appleton,Shuff etc).
Remember this is a $25,250 added event.

The World 8-ball is held in fuijareh (I think) - next year we are moving 2 weeks later so hopefully we miss the conflict.

I agree, a lot of people just do not pay attention. That is to bad for the players and fans.

I wonder if the WPBA cares who they overstep. They clearly know if they hold something the players will be there.
