What sneaky pete do you recommend? WTB wood-to-wood hustler

I would also recommend an older Meucci. I have one from 1992 that I bought new and will not sell. I can go anywhere with it and not worry. It plays great and is still straight after almost 20 years.

If you want a S/P because you like the looks of a house cue, you will be very happy. From my experience, no sneaky will pass for a house cue to someone with any experience. The line is always visible up close. For a Meucci, the 1.25" ferrules are a dead give away. Many older sneakiness have 1" ferrules. House cues tend to have short ferrules. Whenever I see a 'house cue' with a 1"+ ferrule, I look for the line and always find it.

I know Mueller's makes some things in house - one is a sneaky. I have a nice bocote/maple splice sneaky made by them. Not very expensive, no markings, and it hits very good.

Maybe if you call to order you can ask for a different tip?
I came in here searching this morning for anything related to Muellers and your post came up. I used a friend's Mueller sneaky last night that he carries with his playing cue, a super fancy silver wire inlay Cog worth a small fortune. I tried to buy the Mueller from him and he would not sell it to me. It plays that friggin good I offered him $200 just because it out hits and out balances the Sneakiest Petes I had a while back by a mile. And it is dead nuts straight after he has been hauling it around for at least 5 years. I went on Muellers this morning and for sure they list for $140 which is a steal for this true sneaky. They offer specific weights at every 1/4 ounce from 18-21. This cue smokes every other SP I have owned or played with except for my old Varney. I am ordering one and crossing my fingers that the one I get hits as good as my friends. I am betting it does. I can see why they call it a professional SP.

Hello,

I'm looking for a sneaky pete cue. New or used doesn't matter but i am on a low budget. I need shaft effect like that i get from huebler, meucci, viking, 314 cues, but i also need a sleek and no-fancy look, wood to wood joint etc.

How are the budget sneakys? Action, Scorpion, Players etc?

Man i played with a Players sneaky for years and i won plenty of tourneys with it. It has a great stiff feel and even better price. The shaft is great and just change the tip if you want a little more action. Right now i play with a Carolina Custom sneaky and it has an awesome hit. It came with an emerald tip which i never played with but really liked. Also selling a 5280 sneaky with a 314 shaft for a fair price so lemme know if you are interested. Good luck!

cuemaster98 !

Contact cuemaster98 ! He has some cheap but very nice sneakies . Solid hit and an interesting "fearless" shaft ...

Good luck

Some pics of a recent Mueller's Sneaky:

For the money I invested I am very pleased with the cue. I enjoy shooting with this cue and use it more often than not.

Some wood details. Nice figure. Nice "rubbed" finish.

Thanks for the info and pics on the Mueller and others. Just looking , I can see it is 5/16-14 piloted just like a Scruggs or Motteys as you can count the threads against the Heubler next to it which are always 5/16-18. Same rubbed finish on my friends as well. Nice to not have all that shiny clearcoat for a change. Nice pics.... thanks. Yep. I am gonna be ordering one tomorrow.

The best playing sneaky pete i ever hit with was a Roger Pettit....period.
Find and you'll never need to get another cue the rest of your life.

I've played with not so sneaky petes and they were Dufferin and Predator. I thought the Dufferin sneaky pete was a sweet cue if you can find one. The Dufferin I have was made in Canada and many say that the Canadian-made Dufferins back in the day were really good sneakies. I mainly play with the Predator but when I go to my school's gameroom, I bring the Dufferin. I forgot how well that hit was.

Problem was the shaft's color and the butt were not one color. The butt was more yellow than the shaft and people knew it wasn't an one piece house cue :o. I'm not sure if this applies to all Dufferins.

My (old Canadian) Dufferin Phantom appears to be made from a one-piece house cue ... the grain in the maple shaft aligns with the maple grain in the forearm. I have problems with folks grabbing it from my table
