BCA Pool League question

As I recall (can't find in the rule book) that to be a member of a specific BCAPL team, a player must play in during the first x (number of weeks) of the session.

Can anyone tell me more, or specifics, about this rule. Thanks.

This is from the BCA national site..

"BCAPL players competing in at least eight (8) full matches over at least eight (8) calendar weeks in a single division during a sanctioned league session are qualified to compete in the Singles, Scotch Doubles and Team divisions of the BCAPL National 8-Ball Championships. There are no weekly playing requirements for "Player Members," however, they can only play in Singles and Masters Scotch Doubles only (no team events)."

Local/regional bylaws may differ. In our area, you must have your 8 matches in by a certain deadline to qualify.

There is no such rule about when in the season they need to play. As far as leagues go themselves, the League Operator can allow for X number of players to play throughout the season if they wish. The BCAPL only needs the Sanctioning $$$ of any player that plays a minimum of 1 time for the year.

It shouldn't matter when in the season they begin play.

In the league I run, we only don't allow any new players to play the final 3 weeks and playoffs if they didn't already play previously. This is done for 2 reasons. 1) So teams don't stack their team at the end to improve position or win playoffs with a team that didn't play all season, 2) To be able to track stat's, BCAPL Fees, verify players for Nationals, etc. It takes some time.

I always thought that a player must have 8 weeks played in order to compete at the BCAPL Nationals, Team or Singles. I am aware that one mat sign in as a "member at large".

This is what my league coordinator has told me too back in August.

You do need to play a minimum of 8 weeks to play in the OPEN or possible even ADVANCED Divisions or on a TEAM. They use to have a "Player Members" tournament that was separate from the others that you could just pay a $25 fee to get into, but it was not the same as the tournaments the players that qualified played in.

If you don't want to get the 8 weeks in, I'd suggest you call the BCAPL and ask what you can play in without qualifying.

They have been making some great changes the past couple years, so getting the correct word from their mouth might be the best bet.

My original response was about playing in the first X number of weeks to get qualified, which is not a rule. Just need 8 weeks in one league session. (you can't get 3 weeks in the summer session and then 5 more in the winter session, it's gotta be 8 in one session)
