im thinking about working on one that has many steps....i feel kind of akward doing it....but when i used it before it worked well....here ill just explain..

actually nvm....its got alot of steps...but anyway

does anyone know what the pros do for theirs?

or do you all have some tips as to what YOU do?

The easiest thing you can do is just go on YouTube and watch some matches of your favorite players. You'll see what they do very early on. The European players are more obvious with PSR, so I'd start with them.

Routine

The problem with you tube is most of the time you can not see their eye (aiming) routine. Watch that part of the routine if you can. The best preshot routine in the world won't help if you are jumping back and forth between ob and cb at lightning speed with your eyes.

Most people may have a PSR and not even be aware of it. Get a video of yourself when you first start shooting some time, and then when you get in stroke and are playing well and compare them. I play a lot better when I chalk up before a
my shots, go figure.

One of the biggest problems with amateurs is that they do not finish their thought train before getting down on the shot. Up is for thinking, down is for executing.

I would say have a player you trust to watch you play during a tournament or a gambling match. Have him break down the repeatable things you do when your in stroke.

Then compare your preshot routine to a pro player that you more readily identify yourself to in your style of play...

A perfect shooting routine would have the eye pattern built into it.

Easy to remember routine

Get down into a stance, then decide which ball to shoot at. Swivel the stick around until it's lined up at the ball, then decide which pocket to make it in. Adjust the stick accordingly, then jerk your shoulder forward as hard as you can, slamming the cue ball and drilling the object ball in, center pocket every time!

.....

i mean a deliberate preshot routine not just what already do....but a whole routine...i want to have a long one...and a short one....one i can use when im in a pressure situation....and when its not so important...

I mean....a routine AFTER i have desided what to do..after ive assessed the table..a rountine of physical movements....

really wish I could help you out,my problem is between my ears..think to much some times..I work on paceing myself in a rythem that flows smoothly..from the time I decide my shot until I stroke down the shot line an watch the cb make contact with the ob ball, this allows me to view the ob's path to the pocket an at the same time see how the cb deflects as well.if I'm off,I know what I've done incorrectly.
Thats the short version while playing for keepsies.

Routine

The problem with being taught something like this is that you are taught what works for the masses and not yourself. I had one of these lessons and we were supposed to find my stroke. Guess what, we found the stroke he was teaching and it did not belong to me.

Watch several great players and you will find they have less than perfect routines that instructors teach but you will find consistency. They do the same thing every time and every shot.

I mean....a routine AFTER i have desided what to do..after ive assessed the table..a rountine of physical movements....

Well, consider dancers and musicians. Do you think they are thinking about the physical movements when performing?

I don't think so. They are in the moment, the zone, the place of doing and not thinking.

Learn to find the zone, and everything else falls into place.

Think what you want to do with the shot and not how to do the shot.

Pre shot routine should be nothing else but your own little thing that you do in order
to make you feel better. It could be things that you do physically or mentally, it
doesn't matter. Some will tell you to watch pros and see what they do, what works for
them , it might not work for anybody else, it's that simple. Everyone got their own stuff.
To make it simple, find what works for you and only you. Good luck
