I am in the process of selling my old table and buying a new one. Right now I like the Olhausen Drake II. Its $1799 and seems to be built well. Are there any other better tables for around this price I should look at? $1800 is really the top of my price range.

First, what size table are you looking at?? AND, do you play in a league or tourneys? I will break it down a little for you...

9ft table= find a used Diamond...keep your eyes open and you might get lucky...a great table that is built like a tank and will last forever...also, a great table to practice on if you have any intentions of playing in pro level tourneys.

8ft table...not alot of Diamonds out there in this size but you never know if you dont look..might be able to find a nice 8 ft Gold Crown out there...most of those were in the home setting which makes them less plentiful but on the other hand most likely to be in top shape.

7ft table...of course, Diamond makes the best bar box out there although you wont find one in your price range....but you can find a nice valley for alot less than what you are willing to spend...

I looked the Drake table up and while it is a good looking table, I would stay away from anything that has laminate in it....it doesnt hold up well! Pool tables have a very low re-sale (except Diamonds, usually) and you can find a really nice used table for the money you want to spend....

Good luck with whatever you decide.....Hope this helps!!

I do play leagues on 7 ft valley tables, but I prefer a nice 8 ft table for home. Only thing I worried about on a used table was taking on someone elses problems like warping and stuff.

That's understandable...but this forum is a wealth of information when it comes to tables. Tables that have a history of problems are usually known to table mechanics on here...most problems are isolated to a particular model rather than a specific brand. If a used table is not out of the question, then locate some on Craigslist or Ebay or wherever and link them here and someone will point out known issues with that particular table if it has any as there are some really great tables out there...just stay away form tables that are made in China!
