report from Starcade, Fort Walton Beach

Thanks for the update Scratch!

Best tourney in this area for quite some time. Unfortunally I had to leave around 7 pm. My wife's allergies were driving her crazy form all the smoke. We did get to see some world class pool though.

Starcade

As always, Starcade did their best to host 104 tournament competitors in their 11 table tournament room. If you have ever been involved behind the scenes with putting on this kind of event you would deeply appreciate all their efforts. Their staff treats everyone as family and goes the extra miles to provide good service. In all, the tournament ran very smoothly. Yes, with 100% payout.

There were at least 15 people who could have taken this tournament off, given their best efforts. I'm glad to have met so many different people and thanks for looking at my cues. Sorry I missed you Joey!!

See my post in this thread: It is about this tournament and all tournaments. http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=264796

Still, Starcade Billiards in spite of the smoking has one of the best events around. I did notice that some of the players were complaining about the smoke other than myself.

I believe the Starcade Billiards tournament could be an even better memorial tournament without smoking at the table matches.

Me too, Tom. Next time. ;)

wow 104 players on 11 tables. I wonder if anyone has ever lost a first match there and come back and won it? that would truly be worthy of the ironman award.

Lol. I don't know, some of those players looked fresh on Sunday morning.
At least in this tournament I wasn't whining about running out of steam at the end. :p

Tommy Kennedy almost did. He lost his first match and came back to get second place.

This was one heck of a comeback for Tommy considering the playing field. Our sport could use many more players like Tommy Kennedy.
