This is just an exclamation point for all of those people on the other side of the Pond that like to stick it our face about how much better their players are than ours.

Shane Van Boening is making a statement over and over. If the rest of the American talent pool pays attention to Shane's training methods, they too will be showing the world that American pool is far from dead. I venture to say that if other American Professional Pool Players seek out Shane and ask him to help them with their game, he will. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

Shane often shares his secrets to his performances right there on his Facebook account. You don't have to be an academic billiard scientist to see what he is doing because he spells it out, maybe not as often as some would like it, but he does tell the story.

It is fantastic to see Shane playing so consistently well but the rest of the world is watching and learning.

What I like best about Shane is that he realizes that yesterday's performances mean VERY LITTLE as far as today's match is concerned and he PREPARES like no other American player.

When I am in North Dakota doing commentary next month and playing against the likes of Shane, when and if I have a moment, I want to sit down with Shane and ask him to share some of his "SECRETS".

I believe Shane has the ability and willingness to share his "SECRETS" with his Mosconi Cup Team members and turn the tide of the recent European Mosconi Cup dominance. Let me know what you think are Shane's SECRETS.

I got news for ya, Joey.
What you're seeing from the rest of the world IS American talent.
These are America's pupils...and they learned well.

Not only how to play, but how to make cues.
When snooker titles were being won with cheap one-piece cues....
..George Balabuska was getting $125 for his 'business' cue....
...and he deserved it. Almost any cue made any other place in the world
was asymmetrical.

I don't think that nationality has anything to do with talent. It boils down to human potential. Some countries may offer greater exposure to the sport or possess more enthusiasm for a particular sport. That, in and of itself often dictates the number of high level performers which rise to the top of any field.

If there are highly talented teachers pumping out proficient students in "hot beds" of learning, like the Chinese did when preparing athletes for the Olympics...or the Cubans with baseball......or America with tennis in the 70's & 80's....this too can influence the countries where talent appears to be prevelant.

The fact that pool is now becoming popular in countries that have 3 to 4 times our population density and those countries now have stable economies, means that there are many more people with time to devote to personal interests, which may have been unavailable to them previously.

The sheer density of population relative to potential intrest naturally dictates that many more top players will likely arise from those countries in future decades if their economies continue to develop and an intrest in pool remains popular.

The only way we will ever sustain an equal margin of top performers is if we also establish "hot beds" of talent and infuse the sport with exceptional players.

shane is a very solid player, he is in my book one of the best that ever screw two piece of woods together, he has a real talent, but also it is no secret why he is so strong now adays, he practice, aloooooot, and by alot I mean alooooooooooooooot, whenever he's not in tournament week, he'd be practicing 10 hrs a day (Thats just standard) a friend of mine spoken to him, and that 10 hrs a day of practice is only when he's not into it, sometimes he'd go as far as 17 hrs of practice, imagine that!

whenever he's in tournament week, he'd be either sleeping or eating, if not doing these two he'd be shooting some balls in the tournament area.

we all remember Earl in the 90s and how much he used to practice, by the words of Billy incardona, and grady mathews and some others, they say that Earl used to practice ALOT, just like shane now adays.

it all comes down to practice + talent + heart, if you have these three, you will win lots of tournaments.
 
There is a certain North, North American that I predict will have SVBs number either by the end of this year or next year for sure.

I could be wrong. But I'm not.

I've been saying this for a while now: America, learn how to cue a ball.

Shane has - will others follow? Time for RADICAL change to how you approach the game.

This is the correct link. Essentially, the article describes Shane's dominance in this event against some of the European players.

As others have noted, especially Asbani, it is Shane's work ethic that separates him from most players, including the Europeans who have made the U.S. Mosconi Cup Team smart (and not in the intelligence sense of it all) the last couple of times.

However it is not just Shane's insatiable work ethic on the pool table that sets him apart from many of his peers. It is also his work ethic in the GYM. Shhhhh, that's supposed to be a "SECRET". :wink:
