.Baseball? :D
We don't get to keep playing after a foul ball. ;)
A good run is another run that's at least one ball more than your last one.

You're on your way!!

So you're now getting past the .1 in 14.1; now all you gotta do is keep doing it--7 more times to be able to call youself a straight pool player. (And no, I don't get to call myself one, either...my high run was 75, and that was over 20 years ago; I haven't cracked 35 since, and I've really tried, too!)

Welcome to 14.1
It is always good to see a player that discovers 14.1 & realizes how great the game is. By reading your question "what would be a decent number" I can tell that you have not read the other Threads on the 14.1 Forum. Read them & you will get a good idea how your game should go up in levels over time. Lots of good reading, plus videos etc. All at your finger tips......
Your 19 ball run is a good step but it is a small step at this time.
Good Luck & stick around. It will make you a better player.

We're at about the same level in terms of 14.1. My high is stuck at 21. Love the game but can't seem to get past the 2nd rack. Was getting frustrated. But noticed my 8ball and 9 ball game improved.

Welcome to the forum,
I will just throw out a number, I will say a decent high run is 40.
So you are halfway there!

(I am not there)

Johnny Holiday in his book, Continuous Hi Runs, said that the goal should be to run at least 31. This will ensure that you have made at least two break shots. A 28 ball run could be the result of someone leaving you an open table after missing a break shot. The goal of 31 would require you to make that second break shot and get into the rack a little.

I know I was stuck in the high 20s forever.

Enjoy the journey.

"I know I was stuck in the high 20s forever."

amen -- still there, after 2.5 years trying to recover my game from decades of being away.

but there's signs of hope. all of a sudden, 3 weeks ago, my stroke clicked into place. it happened quite abruptly one night after 2 hours of practice. went away again for a few days, but then returned and hasn't left since.

it's a wonderful feeling to be able to shoot the ball i Should shoot, instead of the one i Could shoot!

and it holds up in matches: last night i beat a guy who would routinely Demolish me 2 months ago. :)

now, just a Little more control of that white ball...

Such a seemingly innocuous little sentence turns out to be the key to the whole kingdom :)

A good run is really subjective, what one player considers a good day of straight pool is another's disaster.

I'd say the major milestones in the game are (not including getting through you're first rack as you've already been there),

20 - Made it comfortably into the second rack (ie. didn't just make the break ball and run one or two dislodged balls),

30 - Set up two consecutive break shots.

50 - half way to the century

75 - Big run territory, and the run accounts for 50-75% of a match (depending on length ie. 100 point game or 150 point).

100 - The number speaks for itself,

150 - accounts for an entire match (or most of it depending on the length again) and requires a considerable mastery of the game....failing that it at least requires excellent consistency and shotmaking.

200+ - We're in world class territory
